I bought a jo-jan multi a week or so ago. I tried to fletch an arrow yesterday and realized it had the wrong nock inserts. Jo-jan said they would send out a new set today. What is the purpose of shooting cock feather down if any and does anyone here shoot it?

Certain wheelie bows shoot cock feather down, depending on the style of the rest.

I tried it and all the difference i can tell is it wears the cock feather out quicker.

Yep cock-feather down is for the two-finger style launchers for comounds.

I use cock feather down on my Dalaa and works fine with arrows that are a little stiff.

Ya can still use it, just add only a dab of wood glue to your nocks tohold them while fletching than rotate to how you want them. Shawn

Like Shawn said.  When I fletch using a JoJan (which I love by the way), I just push my nocks on snug to where they won't slip during fletching, and then once I have all 3 feathers on, I rotate the nock to where I want it WRT the fletching and then glue them.

I shoot with my cock feather up at 12:00 I seem to get better arrow flight that way.

The cock feather down is specifically for Hunter TM Style rests. Those are the two pronged rests you see on many older compounds and some target bows. They were designed to allow zero fletching contact and work great with non-helical and little offset on compounds and some target bows. The drop aways and wisker biscuits have pretty much become the rest of choice for compound hunters. I have a TM rest on my Martin Lynx TD recurve. They are were originally designed for aluminum arrows and aren't needed for carbon arrows since you can rotate the nock alignment as you please and don't need a TM nock indexer for fletching them.

I like cock feather up or close to up.
I like the two hens sorta down one in the groove and one hanging just over the edge of the shelf.

I have mine at 12 o'clock as well

If I can tell a difference in my arrow flight due to the orientation of my fletching my arrows are not tuned to the bow. I am referring to long bows and/or bows that are not center shot only.
