Looking at a property in Tennessee (God & the INS willing!) to move me & The Wife into, possibly next year.
85 acres of mixed woodland & pasture (mostly woodland) What kinda game would I expect to visit?

It depends alot on what part of the state your in.  I live in the north west part, by reelfoot lake.  That being said, don't move to the north west part!!  Unless you like mosquitoes and cotton-mouths!  The middle to eastern portion of the state is much prettier if you ask me. There are alot of deer and turkey here, but farther east you can find deer, turkey, bear, and hogs.

Tennessee is pretty country, my Grandma used to live there and I've got a good friend who lives in the NW part. I've seen nice deer, turks, squirrels & yes skeeters & cotton-mouths too. Just about everything you'd expect to find in that kind of country.

I've never seen bear or hogs on his little piece of heaven though. It's just about as pretty as my Ozarks. I'm about 2.5-3 hours west of where my friend lives.

Rob a buddy at work is moving down there to retire ina few yaers. Say's it's awesome. Never been there but sounds like a place Shell and I wouldnt mind living.Good luck<><

Tennessee is a Beautiful State with great fishing to go along with the Hunting.

Hunting is excellent with regard to opportunity in season length and bag limit.  More than likely you have deer and turkey, squirrel and rabbit.  Bear and hogs are less likely but can still be found within the state.  Fall hunting seasons run from middle of Aug to last of Feb. Spring turkey for the month of April and into May.  There are several TN folks on tradgang.  Check on the TN trad archery society here; there are several who would be glad to show you around and take you stump shooting!

Lots of good spots to hunt in TN but not near as much experience hunting there as surrounding states: Ky, AR, MS, AL, & GA all have superb hunting too. You'll be right in the middle of all kinds of hunting.

Depending on where you are lots of game for a bowhunter: Whitetail, turkey, wild hogs, bear, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, quail, dove, and rough fish to name em off the top of my head.

We're just starting on the paperwork involved with shifting Stateside. Gonna be a looong/expensive/complex process but heck $3/gal for diesel & land prices being what they are (compared to England) It's worth the work & the wait.         Could be upto 2 years worth  of red-tape though. On the bright side, if everything goes smoothly, it could be within a year.
We'd initially looked at NC, but property prices are going mental. TN looks nice & quiet with plenty of scenery. All's I need is to find a nice uninhabited mountain & I'm set!

Like someone above eluded to - it depends on what part of TN you are looking at.

We have a deer season that runs pretty much from the last Saturday in Sept. until the middle of Jan.  You can find feral hogs in a few East Tenn spots. Lots of turkeys. East Tenn has been stocked with elk, but hunting opportunities will be limited to a draw hunt for a while.

Small game and varmints include wabbits, squirrels, ground hogs, quail, grouse, coyotes, fox, etc.

Lots of good bowfishing opportunities.

Lots of stumps for stump shooting.

In short, plenty of stuff to fling an arrow at.

What part of Tn are you considering???  If I know that, I can be more specific.

I'm in the southwest most part of the state!  Lots of deer very close to home.  Turkeys are definitely coming on strong, too.  Rabits and squirrels are in my deer woods, along with copperheads.  There are lots of feral pigs just south of here in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

Overall, TN is not too bad.  Cost of living is good, lots of hunting land--both public and private, great trout fishing is not far from here in Arkansas and people don't look at you funny if you tell them you are a hunter.  Let us know if you need more details.
