How durable are carbon lams on a bow?  I just bought a second hand A&H ACS CX and absolutely love the way the bow shoots.  I am curious how the carbon stands up to normal hunting "abuse".  You know nicks, scratches, dings, etc...  What's your experience?

Sand nicks out of the edges just like you would glass.  Otherwise more durable than wood.  Longer draw length capability than comparable wood core.

I'm not super carefull with my bows nor do I bang them around carelessly.  I shoot mine every day and don't have a scratch on either one of my ACS-CX's.  I don't think the likelyhood of nicking or cutting one is very high except around sharp rocks or sharp metal edges.  I've bumped mine a time or two and satisfied myself that they aren't as fragile as they might appear.  On the other hand, I have tossed longbows down from my treestand before, but I have'nt quite brought myself to try it with my CX's.

My biggest concern was that last year I fell and landed right on my bow (not CX another brand) the bow had a small nick in it, but preformed just fine.  I wonder if the same happened to carbon would it splinter?  I figure they are tough, just want to put some concerns to rest.

The carbon I've been using is way harder than fiberglass. It's from oust composites and I think alot of guys use it. The darn stuff can dull a file pretty quick. Mike
