Looking for recomendations on a decent reasonably priced moisture meter. Also, I have read that exotic woods read differently than domestics? I would assume maybe because of density. Will the cheaper harbor freights model work well for all kinds of woods? Steve

Never sawthat one. I bought the Mini Ligno. 3 Rivers used to and still may carry it. Jawge

The one I bought a few years ago came with a chart which showed how to compensate for more or less dens wood species.  Bue--.

I have a pinless meter that works well but I never use the chart that compensates for different wood densities. I use it to give me a baseline to work from. From years of using it, I know that an osage reading of 12% is just right to make a bow from, anything over 16% might check when I put the wood in my drying box and sometimes wood that appears to be dry may read the max of 22%+.
