I don't want to boar you guy's again, Butt last night we went Beaver Huntin again....
No Moon and the water had a slight ripple on it, makes it hard to spot the suckers on swimming....
This time my Uncle Charlie Brown went along....He got his first trad Kill....
I missed 2 of them and Killed one and it bit my arrow in half befor it died....
We had a Blast and had freezing rain fall on us for a short time....
Ooops got to go to the Chiropractor...

Oh c'mon...don't be that guy
Can not imagine to ever get bored with hunting pictures! Bet you took some nice ones!
I think I'm gonna have to find me some beavers, this sounds like a lot of fun.

Mike,
I never get bored hearing about your hunts. I wish we could hunt the things around here. It sounds like a blast.

Dryrot

How about a little detail on the how part, like how do you keep them from disapearing after you shoot them.

Dryrot....
   Thats the trick....
If ya see on on land or water the trick is how close can ya get befor they disapear....
The two that I missed I didn't take the chance of getting closer, So I missed maybe 12-15 yd shots....Plush they were swimming, one was swimming paralle to us the other straight away....
The one I did get was in the water, butt when he saw us he tried to sneak in the Tullies....I had a perfect side shot at maybe 5yds....I double lunged him, he turned around and bit my Aluminum arrow into and then jumped in the water....Lots of blood, and he sank....
The fun of these guys is ya never know where there going to be, out in the middle of the river, in the tullies with gold eyes looking at you or just on the bank....
Sometomes they get right along side of the Boat and splash and scare the heck out of you....
Another good deal is, it's an inexspencive hunt, we always see beaver and always get a couple of chances to loose an arrow....
If ya do miss the Arrow floats unless it sticks in the mud or a Beaver....
I have been 3 times so far and last night was the Darkest, no moon and it was the coldest nite so far....
So you have no chance to warm up, your sitting there cold and then you have an adrenalin rush and have to loose an Arrow....
   It is a blast.........

You had me wanting to do some of this again about a week ago. We and a buddy were gonna head out to where a large creek meets a local lake. We see lots of em while sandbassin. I called up texas parks and wildlife and asked if it was legal to take beavers with a bow on a public waterway, at night, using an artificial light. I got a very definite NO. I never wouldve guessed that. Who wouldve thunk cali was more liberal on the matter than texas? Craziness i tell ya. Anybody else got any info on this subject in texas?

I use a Longbow and regular Easton Aluminum Arrows and a Broadhead I get from Austraila....
Where not sure if you can use the bowfishing arrows with the Barb....Because here ya cant use a barb on a Broadhead while Hunting butt you can while Bowfishing.

Pete P....
No I did not retrive him....
We are not always able to retrieve the Beavers do to various reason out in the River....

"TGMM Family of the Bow"

Why are you shooting them if you can't retrieve them?

Roger....
  I explained this befor....
Beavers here are a pest, they tunnel into the leveys and damage them....
A beaver is North Americas biggest Rat....With 1000 miles of waterways here, Damaged leveys are a Danger....Around here they have no predators to hunt them except Man, and very few people Hunt them....
We try or best to recover when we can....
End of subject, I knew sooner or later this would come up....
This will be the last post concerning Beaver Hunting I will ever post....

Don't be so sensitive, I just asked "why"...

Is trapping banned in California? Lots of gas money in beaver pelts.

We shot a couple (under a damage permit here in MI). The young ones are darned good on the grill. No joke.

They would also be worth retrieving to earn some money for their pelts. Many fur buyers will even skin and dry them though you won't get as much for them. Why not right? Take care, Matt

Trying to find a way to ask this that won't create an embarassing second meaning.

...

Is the meat good to eat?

...

There I did it LOL.     :D

I'm always looking for situations where problem animals are available, edible, and huntable with a bow.  Of course I couldn't do this in Oregon, but wanted to ask regardless.

thanks
