Anybody else noticing anything strange?

Saw a very thick bodied 4x4 whitetail at mid-day two days ago.  I live in good muley country, but in 4 years I've seen less than a handful of bucks that good at ANY time of day.

same here in Massachusetts,,,  thought it was the coyotes chasing the fawns and pushing the deer onto the highways but Hmmm now I'm not so sure.

Same in West Virginia.  I think the dry weather is forcing them to move more.

I think deer only move for a few reasons.  Food/Water/Mating/Pressure.  The moon or sun for that matter does not force a deer to move, they only increase the possibility.  One of those external stressors is causing them to move.
Bugs...maybe.  I have seen deer eaten up with bot flies bed down for hours.  I don't think bugs cause them to move.  IMO.

...in Wake County it's loss of habitat.  They're losing an acre per hour, for development. It's crazy. They say 98 new people move there every day.

I've seen a doe and fawn cross in front of me 2 days in a row around 10 o'clock and on the 3rd day seen the fawn dead on side of road, haven't seen the doe since then........stabow

I've seen a lot of roadkills this year.  Since spring there doesn't seem to be a day I don't see a roadkill deer.  It seems on the level of what I normally see around the rut.

I've noticed raccoons and oppossums out during the day a lot more here in Western Washington.  

I had a state biologist tell me that many animals here, in the Pacific Northwest, are becoming more diurnal because it is easier for them to find food. He added it was because those animals were depending on peoples garbage for their meals instead of natural foraging.

Global warming is upon us!    I really don't find it that unusual for this time of year.I used to spend a lot of time watching a large powerline for deer movement and was really surprised at how many deer would be out and about in the heat of the day during the summer months.

BTW.. There were 3 bucks run over near my house in the last couple of weeks during peak morning traffic hours in the RTP area.With our climate deer don't follow any typical routines.Look at the way the rut is stretched out over months now instead of weeks and you can see new born fawns in October at times.

I think its the cooler than normal weather here.  We are usually in the mid to upper nineties this time of year...and its actually been pleasant during the mornings..I don't think Al can use this in his next film.

Same here in East Texas. Be nice to be able to sleep late and hunt the mid-day..

We have had a lot of road kills here during the late morning and afternoon. It has been cool here and the humidity is ussually 85-89%..right now it's 38%, not that I am complaining !!!

The local power company has clear cut the powerlines that run parrallel to the major highway and I know alot of animals have been displaced because of it.

There is just more game this year.Therefore there is more sightings.It's been my observation this goes in cycles. more game, less food,less area, more sightings.with the political issues, come less harvesting around urban areas. The cycles seem to be more extreme.Take varments for example.Fur isn't worth trapping for anymore.They populate in abundance and then die off in quick fashion from the mother nature process.That's my story and I'm stickin to it.   :confused:

Out here its been politicians!  There all over the place.  Day, night, high noon... whenever.
Heck, whats bad, is I've even had 'em crawl up onto my front porch.
I've heard they run in cycles of every four years.
Recon it'll slow down in about a year or so.

I hear that Olebow! Should be some roadkill on some of those bums...now that wasn't nice, I apologize....

Out here in Oregon we don't have that problem with roadkill. We just ban hunting cats with dogs and baiting bear. Then the cat and bear population skyrockets and they kill off the the deer. Works real good.

Same thing in NE Ohio. I've noticed it for about the last six weeks. I've seen alot more hit on the road and out during midday

I've seen more deer in the last few weeks, here in the mountains of Western NC,than I saw all of last year. Mostly during mid day. I have also noticed that flowering plants, mostly native plants, are blooming 2 weeks to almost a month before they are supposed to.   Pat
