I'm in piedmont region of NC and in the past couple weeks there have been an inordinate amount of midday deer sightings, numerous roadkills way inside the city limits, etc. If this were November it would be no big deal, but I've not seen anything quite like this. Around here, the whole urban encroachment thing seemed to level off several years ago. City deer sightings are by no means rare, but movement has always been a nocturnal thing.  I know that immature bucks get run out of the doe/yearling herds around this time of year, but these are mature bucks and does and not orphans. What gives?

I don't know but I have noticed it here in the Lowcountry too.
The old order is passing. Swiftly receding into memory are the days of strong, earnest men who followed an atavistic yearning to pit their skills against wild animals.

Folks it's been just as unusual here in Missouri. Groundhogs, deer, and rabbits are out all during the daylight hrs lately. Go figure!
