Thats the one thing I'd love to learn. I can make selfbows, strings, rivercane arrows, but I would love to do the whole thing an knap a head and take a deer with it.

Very nice!!!

I'm sitting out here in Oregon where there are mountains of obsidian that the American Indians use to make heads out of...and I have never tried to do this! Is it hard to learn?

Im going deep into a cave not far from my house this weekend because I've been told there is a chunk of flint back in there the size of a refriderator.  I have some guys here at work that make napped heads but I want to make my own.  If you guys never hear from me again the lucky person that finds my carcas should also get a nice bag of flint. I can only hope to have some come out as nice as those.

Snag.  As close as you live to some good rock, all you have to do is start hitting on it.  And after you get Mt. St. Helens down to sea level, I would say you've got it......lol.  It really really helps to have someone to guide you through the process.  I would be no where without the help of some great new friends

Those would be really nice if ya could just take a bench grinder and smooth out some of them rough edges. LOL
Seriously, they look really good. I've tried knapping a little and can appreciate what it takes ta turn a rock into what your pictures show. Ya got talent way beyond mine.

Charles, you're off and running.  Looks like you're already about one year ahead of the learning curve.  Very nicely done, buddy!    :wavey:

Thank all for the comments.  I had not one, but two great teachers.  I still have a lot of learning to do on my bifaces, but it is coming along.  Fish, no sorry I do not sell.  All the the things that I make will be used for hunting, and or eventually be given to my grandson hopefully.  My quality by no means fits the catagory of a "selling" rock as do so many great knappers on here.
