Caribou "D" Day we are off with pics YEEEEHAW

Bob, CJ, and I went out and tried hard to find what wasn't there...

we did find sign of other hunters, also waiting on tuktu, or the caribou

 

and we did find some ptarmigan, which Bob and CJ worked over pretty well!

we had some pretty rough weather, preceded by a sunrise of incomparable beauty..it foretold of 50 mile an hour wind gusts and sideways rain for 36 hours!

our daily excursions were either on foot, directly out of camp, or in these sturdy boats across the lake to the opposite shore.

Sure am sorry that y'all didn't get into the caribou.  My group is leaving a week from Friday for our great Northern adventure to camp Kat.

I sure hope we get into the caribou... two weeks from today I might be hunting!

Any advice y'all want to share with future camp Kat-ers?

Honestly you should not have any issue at camp Kat. The caribou started moving in there yesterday. Purchase a fishing license and a small game as well. Fishing will be catch and release but the fishing is great. Also plan on taking plenty of pictures

seriously, I would reccommend better raingear than I had, taking meals you can cook in the oven thats at Kat (canned biscuts, entre's you can heat up in the oven etc like lasagna ) buy a fishing license, its incredible fishing, take plenty of photos and have the best time you can regardless of weather and the migration

you can purchase it anywhere in Quebec...you do not have to buy it through Boney. If you are driving up, stop in Amos, or Matagami and get one on the way up.

Well Gang it looks like we have a chance for 2 return trips. Some are going next year and then some in 2009. Once everyone has made their decision on returning either in 2008 or 2009 I will post the open slots that will be available and again it will be whoever responds first that gets the slot.
I got word today that the camp we were in tagged out as of yesterday. Looks like we were just a week to early for the caribou.
