Just got my new Vortex longbow this weekend so I thought I'd share a few pics with you. it's a 56" 53@28 Zircote and Osage with carbon and actionboo core and Bocote veneers.

Very nice. Would have stuck to just actionboo cores though.

Golden Hawk

I gave that alot of thought and decided to get it jus to see the difference. I like it. Why would you have passed on the carbon David?

Carbon is not a good core material. It is not good with compression and is more likely to fail in the core. Arvid has done lots of research on it and no longer does carbon cores in the Black Swans. There are materials that better handle core duty and carbon core really doesn't improve speed. Carbon does it's best work on the back of the limb and if you put glass over it, you are pretty much canceling out most of the benefits.

yellow bow

LeRoy, she's a real "look'r"! good luck with her.

Shawn Leonard

Very nice, I like the grip Kevin did for ya!! I do not know if the carbon will benefit the speed, but I would think it would be smooth on the draw! These bows are some sweet shooters and lookers!! Shawn

Tom

LeRoy,
See you did it again!! How does the added heel feel to you? Fine looking piece there.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Golden Hawk

Tom, I really like that heel. It is going to make going back and forth from my T/D to my Vortex easier and it also locks my grip solid in one place this way. No more hand position troubles.
