Which trad bow would it be

Im thinking about getting something like a Martin Serengeti.

Anyone have any other suggestions

sgrogg

The Serengeti is a nice bow.  I can't think of anything Bass Pro sells that's better.

I would buy Rivers Edge, they have bows in stock and ya get a true custom for roughly the same price and a better performer. They are a sponsor on here. Shawn

If ya really got to buy from Bass Pro, I would but the Martin Savannah. Great performer and easy on the eyes as well. Shawn

Man, with all the great used bows out there for sale, I can't imagine poppin money for what Bass Pro carries.  Even if you bought a Martin Savannah, which ain't a bad bow, you can find one in excellent shape for way less coin than BP is gonna get you for.

Martin bows are great, but seem a bit overpriced if you pay retail.  I bought a Fedora Jr. Big East off this site when I thought I was going to be buying a Serengetti from the local shop.  The Big East is a far better shooter (I've extensively shot the Serengetti which is a good bow...) and better looking.  There are numerous exceptional bows for sale on this site for less than a new Serengetti.

I feel like a traitor saying the above, since I'm also a Martin fan, but the truth will out...

I wanted to be able to walk into the store and just pick something up.  But the classifieds are starting to look like a pretty good option.

Maybe a couple days wait is worth saving a few hundred

Thanks guys

Shovelbuck

I'd go with the Savannah. Buy new and get a warranty.
Customs are nice but I have to wonder if they are that great, why are so many for sale?
No matter what type of bow is shot, we're all archers.

Don't they carry the new Viper LB from Martin? If so, I really like the way it looks. It's a little pricy, approx.$700 but a sharp looking bow.

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.

You might not save a few hundred compared to what you would spend at bp but you will get a nicer bow. and possibly save a few hundred off of that custom bows price..

I wouldn't...I'd order an RER, chek-mate, brandon stahl (rose oak) or a couple other NEW customs for that price...or get a really high-end used custom instead...

I would go with a RER or one of the bows in classified here.

Ditto on buying a used or even new custom.  If I had to buy a BPS bow, I would get the Reflex metal riser bow.  There is definitely a difference in feel between a good custom bow and a good production bow.  Once you've shot a really good custom bow, you will be hard pressed to shoot anything off the shelf again.

DesertDude

The Martin hunter Is a great bow for the $$.  Alot of people have owned one.  The Reflex is last years Hoyt Tibron & Gamemaster mixed... Either bow will preform well.......As for a Custom Bow, that was not your Question....Mark
