I am going to show you Mannny's "Hula Girl" in action in her new home in NC. I've had her about a week and a half but she needed to acclimate (taking sunbaths in our climate). I also made a purty white, black, and yellow Flemish Twist string, with fur strips for her. I have grown to love her even more during this time of just handling her. Yesterday I served and put nocks on the string and it was time for our first shooting foray together. I'll tell you about that later. Please remember I was nervous as a teenager on a first date and we were just getting used to each other. I will post more pics latter but here are a few teasers this morning.

Yeah Frank, I was afraid there were going to be pictures of Bernie in a grass skirt in here!    :scared:

Nice bow Bernie, looks like Manny did another stellar job.

nice looking bow, but i think a grass skirt with a few clumps of those beautiful blue hydrangeas added to the mix would really be something.     :scared:

Bernie After taking a lQQk at your last pictures I was alil nervous opening up this post. Thought I'd see a man wearing a grass skirt shooting a bow.
But since we all know your a man's man, glad I did. Great lQQking bow. It's got the lines of the Alaskan longbow I like. Good luck.

It is my true pleasure to add to Manny's earlier thread on this bow. (The bow means a great deal to me, as do you guys opinions of it, and of friend Manny.) (No grass, of any kind, either!  :D  )

As I said, First time out. I find I have to Cant well, and still pick a spot well to the right, to hit where I would like to, with pretty much all of my wood primitive/lam/self bows. Maybe I'll work around that some day        . The arrows you see with the "tracers" on them are Ramin dowel shafts (in light spine) that I made. The three with Fl green nocks and feathers are alum (shhhh - just to "see how she liked them"). AND the one right smack in the center, with the tracer, is a Cane arrow in light spine I made - it flew like a dart. (I gotta make some more light spined Canes - LOL)

Let me say my "go-to-bow" is a Adcock ACS and it is a fast little rascal that I shoot fairly well (when I pay attention    ;)     ) so I have an idea of fast, smooth, and hard hitting. That having been said, this "Hula Girl", my Guava Bow from Manny, is a fast spitting , smooth shooting, hit like a veritable Frieght Train, full of authority bow - and I love shooting it, as well as love it period. Too bad everybody couldn't shoot it (or one like it.) Thanks for looking. Maybe some more pics from our first outing, later, if you want.    :)

You need to mount a bobble-head Hula Girl on the riser like a stabilizer and take a few pics. Cool bow for a cool customer.

LOL - Think I'll pass on that one - though I remember those on a lot of Dashboards back in the fifties, or was it forties -

Bernie, you should add a little grass skirt at the bottom of the handle wrap.    :D

They used to use feathers before the grass started growing on the Volcanic rock there - maybe I'll put one of my feather wind indicators on her .  :archer:

Thanks, Claudia, I really think the name  fits her, now that I've had her here awhile.

Looking good Bernie. I am getting kind of old and "crooked" perhaps I should get me such a bow.  Bue--.

ber643

LOL - Maybe, Bue, I've got two (Osage "Sneaky Snake" from Dano and now "Hula Girl" from Manny) and I love them both. It fascinates me how they shoot, being so crooked. Dano also made Osage bows for my two (real young) Great Granddaughters and one of those is snakey in the lower limb also.
