Wood shafts???

Where is the best place to get woods shafts?

I'm shoting cedar now. But would like to try a heavier shaft... I shoot a 125 gr BH would like to stay with that....Shooting 48 @ 27 " curently a 28.5 in arrow..
What & where would you guys recommend?
Wood & Place to buy??

you could try sitka spruce. I get them from Raptor archery and have been really pleased with them.

I'd suggest some Hex Pine shafts from Bob Burton at Whispering Wind Arrows. Very good shafts and he can set you up with some heavier grain weight shafts. WWA is in the Sponsor Links. Hildenbrand's Sitka Spruce is very good also, but tends to be even lighter than POC.

I just got some Hildebrand shafts that are 75-80# 11/32 that weigh 400-410 gr. Very straight and great tight grain.

I agree with Fletcher, you might try shafts from Bob Burton at Whispering Wind. I have some of his dymondwood footed arrows that not only have the weight I prefer but the quality is the best I've ever seen.

You might try Poplar or Pine for a little heavier shaft. They are both a little tougher than Cedar too.

Sitka spruce is going to be equivalent to POC in weight maybe just a little lighter.

I am shooting Hexshafts right now but I will go back to the laminated birch shafts for my next batch, they are very heavy and straight. My last dozen Lam-Birch were 5/16 and came in around 700 gr with a 135gr BH.

I shoot carbon now, but if I went to wood again, it would be back to lam-birch. If its weight you want, you got it.

I find myself missing wood more and more.

alhegany Mountain Arrow Woods for a multitude of wood types and excellent shafts. Bob Burton also has excellent hexshafts if you want to shoot Lodgepole which is a very good shaft material. Joseph
