Anyone here have any experience with Kota bows? Do you recommend them? I am looking at a Kill'um recurve. Are they comparable in quality to Mahaska? Any info would be great.

Thanks,

Russ, I have a Kota Badlands. I've had it only about a week and I really like it. I realize it's not the recurve you're looking at but the quality is very good.

My husband has a Prairie Fire.  He loves it.  I like to shoot it also.  We go to lots of shoots and shot many bows.  Not yet have we found one better than the Kota.  Plus Tim is a great guy.

30coupe-If you are in Des Moines, the Scheels store has a Kill-um in.  I think it was around 52#.  Plus, call Tim.  He usually has some already made.  He will be at the Coon Rapids, MN shoot next weekend.

Yep, Tim makes fine bows. Been shooting one of his longbows for years. Great guy too.

Tim is a great bowyer and great person. The Kill-Um is a fine bow.

Thanks to all for your responses. I am looking at a used Kill-Um. I will be handling it on Monday. I'll keep you posted if it comes home with me or not. I like the looks of the bow on Tim's website, so I hope it feels right. The shop also has a used Mahaska curve, so the chances of me coming home without a new (to me)bow are kinda slim.

Tim makes a great bow, the finish is superb and the bows handle nice.  I've got a Prairie Fire and I shoot it pretty well so far.  His recurves have limbs that are narrower than other recurves out there.  I don't like really wide recurve limbs and like the looks of his the best.

Well, the Kota came home with me today. What a beautiful bow! It is 48# @28 but man is it fast! I think the narrow limbs are what make the difference there. It shoots great. Right now it is making more noise than I like, like the arrow is hitting the riser, but I haven't had a chance to tune yet. It puts the arrow right where I'm looking though and they get there in a hurry.

Awesome!  :bigsmyl:  Can't wipe the grin off my face!
