Kip, that's what ThermaCell's and extra t shirts are for...buddy.

You get after those hogs, man. If you got blackberries ripening get after em around those.

Hunting for a few stand sites, that's about it around here.Almost as fun as the actual hunting tho in my opinion.I really like scouting out new areas and trying to figure out the deer movement, finding food sources, water holes, trails, picking just the right tree depending on the predominant winds, hanging stands, trimming shooting lanes NOW,ect.........
Bowhunting......A way of life and death.

Hey that's not fair, we have exotics here in Maryland too, but their harvest is tightly regulated and hunting season is restricted to the fall and winter.  I've been to Texas, and you Texans are crazy (but I like it), On a trip through the hill country I saw hundreds of blackbuck antelope, whitetail deer, Fallow deer, Axis deer, mouflan sheep crosses w/ domestic, gemsbock antelop, Impala, and freakN' Waterbuck (standing in a dry riverbed) etc.

While many of these animals were behind fences (and I don't know the point since their density appeared to be uniform for hundreds if not thousands of square miles), in a couple of locations these animals were clearly free range; and, on one stretch of road I saw road kill whitetail, Fallow, and Axis deer within a mile.

You have so many ungulates, I can't imagine why the area isn't crawling with mountain lions by now...NO, actually I can't imagine why Jaguars haven't reestablished themselves without Federal assistence...NO..NO...actually I can't imagine why African Lions haven't been introduced or gone feral and established themselves...I thought nature abhorred a vacuum.

The only hunting we've got going on up here right now is black bears and morels..The spring bear trip fell apart this year so I am headed out Friday morning at O'LIGHT THIRTY(4:30am) to hopefully hook up with a King salmon.  I am however anxiously waiting for my new-to-me recurve to arrive from RC in Georgia. Hope the office calls tomorrow to say a "long package" has arrived. Maybe next year I'll get down that way to hunt some of those hogs that everyone seems to talk about, I enjoy reading the posts about them... Sounds like alot of fun.. Mark

I'm in a quandry...I want to go to this wallow where I'm sure I'd get a chance at a boar; but I went there last weekend, and am only just recovering from seed tick bites...I'm worried that if I get nailed again so soon, I might have a worse reaction! But, I might wear trousers instead of shorts this time, and spray on the insect (arachnid, hopefully) repellent!

Going after some carp and woodchucks. That's pretty much all you can hunt in these parts in the summer.

Spring Squirrel season is in here.  I'm thinking about sneaking out for a little tree rat session.
