The best part of this whole adventure is that Larry Surtees was there to witness it all.  He, as well as all of us, could feel that we where, without a doubt, not alone....

When he asked Michael...."Is that the knife I think it is?"....and Michael answered that it was...it hit Larry very hard....and the rest of us as well...it's a good thing you can't see tears in pictures....

Jeff, next time your tracking with him a trip into the prickly pear would only be fair.Tell him you see a tiny drop of blood and when be bends for a closer look, well you know. Hes easy to fool as can be seen by that strange looking doe I led him to. After that I guess he owes me a trip into the pears I guess.

This wouldn't be the last "hog fight" that our group got into either    :scared:

Excellent guys! Texas pigs can be something else. That was a great story with a great ending. Congrats Curt!

Now I'm in the "waiting for the rest" mode again.

Keep it coming,

I think all of you should be dragged through the prickly pear in your birthday suits for stringing this out for so long. Don't you know we all have to sleep and work for a living?  :)

My whole trip was made that night...I had Chris' headlight on my head, Terry was shooting Chris' Kwyk Styk, and Michael used a very special knife...Larry was there to share it all...

I still wonder what made Larry ask to come that night, but I think I know...

Powerful stuff that night fellas!  Truly an unforgetable experience!

Although I hate that that hog had to go thru all it did before it died...It's hard to think of it happening any other way...

By the time we made it back to camp it was very late, or maybe early depending on how you think about it. But sleep was the last thing on our minds! Adrenaline has a way of doing that to hunters in a situation like this.

After re-living our experience many times while laying in bed...eventually we all drifted off....

Some pix from the following day, Friday Dec. 31st...

Don Wilson showing his very solid shooting form(check out the arrow in paradox). Not hard to see where Slyler gets his champion shooting style from.  Not bad for a "gap shooter"    :goldtooth:
•

Terry, Cooch, Chop,Elkken, Stabow, and Danny Rowan...
•

Jack Guard shooting Chris' Randy Morin Hi-Breed longbow. He'd already killed a doe with this bow. Little did he know how these practice shots would later come into play...
•

Tg'er David Bishop stopped by camp with his dad to meet our motley crew...
•

Gettin' geared up for the afternoon hunt...
•

Peanut and Guide Robert...
•

This night would become another very memorable hunt for all of us...

Wow, I just relized this all happened on the night I was in camp! Oh how I wish I could have tagged along with you guys to see that unfold. As it was, I had to leave around 10:00pm and did not get to visit with several of you guys like I would have liked to.
