I don't like Dacron because of the vibration it causes on recurves; I don't find it one bit quieter, either.  However, I don't think there is too much difference in speed.  However, you will need a stiffer arrow with ff, so you basically get to shoot a heavier arrow at the same speed as you would with Dacron.  One other thing: Dacron will hit your arm on all but very high brace height bows, which I don't like.

Bob, If your really considering the difference in the older Robertson vs the newer Robertson you might want to call them to see if there have been design changes that may influence your decission.

If you have to use the B-50 then check out Lazerstrings.com. Check out the benefits of that NEW string.  You just might pick the 3fps back up.

I just tried a B-50 string on my longbow, and I'll agree with several others in that is a bit noiser and the bow feels "springy."  Perhaps it just depends on the bow and the style of shooting/release but, I'll stick with D-97.

I don't buy into gadgets and gimmicks myself, but I (personally) wouldn't buy a new bow that wasn't made to accept the new materials. I like them because they reduce hand sock, have much less stretch/creep, are much tougher/more durable, and (on my bows anyway) they are very quiet. I don't mind the small amount of increased performance either, but I'd use the new materials even if they were a little slower because I appreciate the other benefits.
