I have an opportunity to buy either a '69 Kodiak magnum or a green riser, grayling made grizzly. I have a 28" draw and i am wondering how much shooting comfort i would sacrifice if i got the 52" K-mag. could someone who has experince with both bows give me an opinion??

Ian johnson

all I can say is, I love my grizzly, have not shot the K-mag though

I like them both but if I had to pick just one it'd probably be the Grizzly.

That is a big question. The obvious answer is...get them BOTH.

If that is not an option, then you need to decide your intended purpose. Do you need a 52" bow for a specific purpose? (i.e. ground blind or tree stand clearance?)

I love my Grizzly, but I have not had the pleasure of shooting a K-mag. I have heard various opinions on them, most of which deal with stack, or its uncanny lack thereof despite its length.

If you are in a position to shoot them both, pick the one you shoot best with, ..right?

My grandfather's Grizzly shoots nicer than my K-Mag.

I have both, and have taken deer with both. That said, I like the Grizzly for it's length, as it's a little more forgiving. The K-Mag shoots just fine also, and I haven't had any stacking at a 28" draw. I guess up to you if you want a short bow, or one a little longer. I would get them both, If I could.
Good Luck with the one you pick.

I have a 58" grizzly.  Good length and a nice grip.  The shorter bows are a little more difficult for me to shoot consistantly.

I killed my first deer with a K-mag still have and use one today but my go-to bows for the last 25 years have been 58" bows.I find that length still short enough for tight spots but a little better in the shooting dept.I can shoot the K-mag accurate enough but I feel the 58" length give a little edge in accuracy.Get them both if you can swing it.Kip

yeah, i would love to buy them both but i really can't right now. I think right now i am leaning toward the grizzly, i wish i could shoot them and try them out.

At 28" your fine with the kmag,,if your looking for a blind bow look no further than the Kmag,, I own both and love them both but its the short 52" that I really love,,JB

I really would like to get the K-mag for ground blinds but I just don't want to sacrifice any accuracy. I think i might go ahead and get the K-mag. and it should be a shooter 'cause it's a '69 k-mag in nice condition. hell i don't know what i want to do. lol

what length string do i need for a 58" grizzly??

whitebuffalo

ahhh,, be about  61"
I've read 3" for long bow and 4" for a recurve

I like 3" for my recurves,,just my two cents

53"-54" for an AMO 58" bow.Kip

Zane I have had both. I had a newer Kodiak Mag that I used for bowfishing. I didn't notice any problems & I draw 29" with a recurve. I have a Grizzly & really like it. With a 28" draw I think you should go with the one you like the best. Frank
