Hi Guys

Having read through all the posts I know now what has been calling to me for all these years.

Just interested to know why Bear stopped making the #2 limbs. Also for the folks who have the new black maple riser is the grip the same size as the bubinga one (I suffer with small hands). Also to those who hunt with the # 3 limbs, do you find the 64" troublesome sometimes.

I just got back from the Baltimore traditional shoot and spent too much time in the Bear Booth.  A big thanks to those guys for setting up there.  They had A's and B's, right handed and left handed, heavy and light weight, black and Bubinga that you could shoot until content.  I am going to have to add one of the black all maple risers to the stable.

Yeah...curse you R.V.T.B AND that dang Bear booth.....      :archer2:

I wanted a dedicated turkey hunting bow this spring.  One of the requirements was a bow with a front stabilizer hole to use in mounting a bow blind to the bow.  A nice old Bear green stripe takedown fit the bill perfectly, and it had a pretty good season.

Nebraska #1 - You can't see the bow in this picture - it is laying under the bow blind which is right behind the quiver in this picture.  Look close!

Nebraska #2

Wisconsin bearded hen.  I've never seen a hen with a beard this heavy before.

The bow is in need of a refinishing, and it is going to get that now that turkey season is over.

Hey Petrovic,
I have first hand experience with both the new Bubinga riser and the Black Maple...and yes they are the same size.
I have small hands too.
Whip...Congratulations on two nice birds and what a beautiful Bear TD bow!
They're all really nice bows.

Can't wait to see what Bear has is store for the 2014 TD riser. Two-tone Future wood? I would have to pick one of those up for sure.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with choice of arrows for my bow when it arrives.
On order from the same company are some Magnus II 2 blade 125 broadheads and I planned to use wooden shafts, but am thinking of changing my plans in favour of carbon.

Here is the spec. for my bow :-
riser A
no.3 limbs 50#
draw length 27"
MA II - 125gn

considering the data above and my draw length, I should have around 48lb on my fingers, so an arrow of 480-500gn would be about right.
From looking on spine charts, I have come up with the following:-
125 broadhead
75 steel adaptor
30 insert nock collars
230gn in total

From charts available on the net this should be about a 400 spine shaft cut to 28 1/2" with a weight around 9gpi should give me approx. 480gn arrow.
fletching - I usually use 5" shield.

I would be grateful for any advice offered, or a thumbs up for my choice of starting point.

Thanks in anticipation.

Talked with the Bear product manager at the Baltimore shoot and he mentioned about playing with the different colored woods in the take down.  No specifics but they are laying out the 2014 line now.

Here's my Bubinga "B" with old red tip limbs. Love this bow.

My turn!!!!!      :archer:     New A riser with #1 limbs,I was looking for a "ground blind" bow and this one fits the bill to a "T".

I made up some Antler knobs made out of a couple local Sika's to hold one of my Dad's quiver's. I'll be hittin the Sika marsh with some of his old Bear greenies too....figure adding a genuine Fred Bear takedown to the mix I'll have some serious MOJO with me come September

Cancelled my order from a UK based firm they couldn't supply, got a bow from the USA in 18 days after ordering !!!!

I have an A riser and no.3 limbs making a 60" bow, what should the brace height be for this combination. The string should be 4" shorter than the AMO, for a recruve, but when this length string is on the bow it measures over 9", from the throat.

Help would be appreciated very much, what length string, where do you measure from (the throat I presume)and brace height parameters.

Hobgoblin

smokin joe

The brace height, from the deepest part of the grip to the string, should be 7.75 inches to 8.5 inches or so. All of my Bear TD bows perform best with a brace height of 8.25 to 8.5 inches measured this way.

Some Bear TDs need a minus-4 string to do this, some need a minus-3 string. It sounds to me like yours will need a minus 3.

Hob sent you a PM.
Mine shoots great at 7.5......stabow

hobgoblin

I've read through the literature supplied with Bear bows and measuring from the throat as detailed, I thought the string would have to be longer. Just needed conformation that other bows are the same.

I'll make a string minus 3 and try it out, thanks for the help Joe and stabow.
