If you consider French Creek close enough (~30mi), then count me in...sorta (non-resident landowner, with eventual relocation coming soon, I hope)

Don't live there but used to deer hunt around there a couple decades ago. Pretty place. Lots of deer, turkey, bear. You moving John?

I'm not from there, but up until a couple years ago I hunted for about 20 years in Randolph County in the Kumbrabow State Forest. There's some outstanding public hunting in the Kumbrabow. Get youself some topo maps and take a look at Rich Mountain Fire Trail and Piney. They are two great places to hunt, depending on when you go and what mast crops have hit. If the Beech and Cherry hit, Piney will be outstanding. Rich Mountain Fire Trail has some great places to hunt at all times.

Hi Mickey.
Yeah, I'm going to retire in a couple of years, and I want to move to better hunting and fewer people. We have over 180/sq mile now and growing.
I'm just romancin' right now.
Looking for good small game also.

John,

You will find lots of turkey and bear hunting in the Elkins/Randolph County area. Hopefully, deer are making a rebound. They had a couple harsh winters in a row a couple years ago and deer were scarce after that. But I think they're doing better now.

They also have excellent populations of squirrels and rabbits.

I live in Morgantown, which is about 2 hours from the Elkins area. Just spent the last 6 days down there chasing turkeys and native trout. Found the area I'm planning to hunt this fall on my annual trip. TON of bear/deer sign, and had a close encounter with Mr. Bruin at 7 steps. Drop me a line or hit me with a PM and I'll send ya my PH # if you wanna chat. "IF" the other half would let me, I'd move to the area in a heartbeat.

I use to live in Moorefield, WV, near Elkins. Terrific trout fishing, especially brookies in the mountains. Mon National Forest has thousands of acres to roam, and plenty of deer and bear around. The cost of living is very reasonable, and plenty of things to see nearby(Seneca Rocks)...
