Knife, Multi-Tool, Both?

Every day I carry a Wenger Highlander, Victorinox Signature II(on my Keyring) and a Leatherman Juice. When I go hunting I add a big Gerber Folder with a droppoint blade and ...If I'm hunting Elk and carrying a pack there is a folding Rapala fillet knife in the pack(great for boning). Of course I have dressed game with the Wenger SAK and long ago field dressed a deer with a SOG paratool but it is nice to have the tools for every task. The Leatherman and a butane lighter allow for mounting broadheads or a new Hexblunt in the field.

The multitool pliers come in handy for working arrowheads out of trees and stumps (I've been known to miss a time or two).  In addition to that, when hunting, I carry a small to medium fixed blade or folding skinner.  Usually a small sturdy pocket knife (Gerber Ridge) for cutting misc. stuff.  Finally, a hawk for chopping stuff.

JL sold me a MicroTech Socom Elite that I love.. It never leaves my side. He also imparted a MicroTech UMS on me a couple of weeks ago that I like a lot, but I still like the modified Tanto style of the Socom Elite. It works for everything I need it too and it is strong too.

Both.  I learned the value of a good pair of pliers for camping and general outdoor work when I started canoe camping in the early 70s.  Back then I wouldn't go without a set of pliers and a swiss army knife.  Now I have combined the two in the leatherman wave.  If out for the afternoon I will carry one of my various small fixed blades from the Scottish Black knife to a couple of helle knives I have assembled.  If out camping I will usually have my Puma Bowie.

Leatherman XTI, something like that and a Halle Veiderman? (something like that). I actually carry a clip-on "assisted opening knife" on my belt incase I end up hanging from my treestand with a broken arm or something! :-)

I used to carry an assisted opener. It was a Kershaw Blackout. Half Serrated. Neat little knife. I got sold on Cold Steel knives though. I think im gonna grab me a leatherman wave next time im in town.

I always have the Buck Hartsook 860 hanging on the chain and the Leatherman Squirt (scissors) in my change pocket. I'll probably bring the Leatherman Wave in my butt pack, and I'm going to see if the Blackie Collins Neck Knife will work as a skinning knife.

I carry a Leatherman Wave and a Gerber Harsey Air Ranger folder everyday. Pretty much takes care of any chore wether at work on the ambulance or in the woods.

Ron, do you carry that hawk on your belt? I only ask that because I have been thinking of getting one, and am worried about how cumbersome it might be.

I carry a Gerber Multi-Tool and also a fixed blade knife. The fixed blade knife usually stays in my fanny pack and only gets used for game.

The Multi-Tool does everything else and I would be lost without it. I have used it for everything including picking a hot dog out of boiling water.    

I really like the one hand operation of the Gerbers.

I like the one hand operation of the Gerbers also. However, I got tired of pinching the palm of my hand when the pliers sliped off what I was really squeezing hard to turn. Two things that I like about the Leatherman Wave that I now carry, is you can acess the blades with out haveing to open the pliers, and they too are a one handed operation. Also, the saw blade that comes with the leatherman has come in pretty handy.
