HEY GUYS, GOING BEAR HUNTING IN MAY AND WONDERING WHAT YA'LL THINK, AND ANY HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS. I'LL BE SHOOTING A 66" T/D WIDOWPLV LONGBOW 55@30 600 GRAIN CARBON AND EITHER A 2BLADE STINGER OR 3BLADE RAZORCAP. WHAT YA'LL THINK, AS I'VE NEVER HUNTED BEAR BEFORE. UNDECIDED ON THE BROADHEAD. THANKS DAVID

I really like the Stinger for penetration, however for bears I like something that makes a BIG cut. Maybe a Grizzly? I like the Eskimo personally------but I like two-bladers.
I think you'll want to make a lot of damage on a bear, they can be a bit vengeful.

I am a bear guide here in Manitoba. And one word of advice is SHARP broadheads. Myself I love the stingers, and I have seen the damage they do on bears. But again it is all in the shot placement. Grizzly's, Ribteck, Wenzel Woodsmen, and stingers would be my top choice's. Good luck with your hunt.

Big Old Snuffer would be my choice. As far as bow and weight, you have way more than enough. Bears are not all that thick skins and like anything just stay off the shoulder and you are fine. I know a lot of guys taking big bears with 45-50# bows with arrows 10gpp. and as stated scary sharp broadheads. Also should say I am not a two-blade fan as they leave less than perfect bloodtrails and bear hair soaks up lots of blood. Shawn

I'm going for bear this fall with some other Trad Gang guys. Here is my setup 53@28 550grain Arrow Dynamics Trad lites with 175 grains of big ole Snuffer hangin off them. Make A Hole!

Dave, you're makin' me jealous Bud!!!!!

A bear hunt is definitely something I want to do soon!

I am a HUGE fan of WW's and Snuffers and have seen a lot of stories and pictures on here and other sites of successful bear hunts using them...

Good Luck to ya and be sure and let us know how it goes!!

Davey....hit the caps lock button, that's hard to read.

Sounds like you're ready for moose except for the broadhead.  I would opt for a Magnus over those razorcaps.  But I don't think you'll have any trouble with either.  Bears are rather thin-skinned.

Gordy

Bears plug up pretty quick. I'd stick with the 3 blade. Razorcaps should work nice on a carbon shaft. Ya can't go wrong with a good old snuffer or woodsman either.

The snuffers are easy enough to sharpen and reasonable price, so that means I can tune in and practice with the shafts I'll be hunting with a bit.... plus they look right at home on a cedar shaft  ;)

Good luck to ya. I had a fun bear hunt last year, but didn't take my shot. Looking for a bigger boar, hopefully again this year.

If you go with the stinger I would go with the 1s with bleeder blades and maybe the 150 grain model.I shoot 125 gr with bleeders and love em.Very strong (thick blade) and the diamond tip is fantatic. The 3 blade heads for a big hole is worth seroius consideration.I have used snuffers on hogs with good results.
