Lately, with the wave of new people coming to Trad Gang, I feel there needs to be a review of what Trad Gang is about.........

Off topic threads can be one of a kind, or fit into a category.  Here's a list of categories that are off topic for Trad Gang that have been problematic for a few months now......

E-B-A-Y/Auction sites/Sales alerts from non Trad Companies.

No target/olympic/field archery topics cept 3-D

Solicitations/Raffles/Auctions.

Religious posts.

No non bowhunting related pics.

No links to other message boards.

No canned hunt topics period.

Personal Contact threads.(use search feature and email)

Scam alerts.

Throwing Hawks/Throwing knives, non hunting knives

Bloggs/Myspace/YouTube non-bowhunting.

Non Bowhunting TV/Movie threads.

Not Trad Bowhunting equipment (compounds, crossbows, mech heads, lazer sites, guns, etc...or even pics)

No fishing threads.

No pics of road kills, or any other weapon kills, or any type of kills that are not done so with trad bows.

No animals killing animals clips, or any other non hunting clips.

Again, those categories above are off topic, and will always be off topic unless we approve a specific thread for a needy reason.  Please help us help you by keeping the site on topic...Trad Bowhunting.

Trad Gang is a special place, and to keep it a special place it takes work from everyone, including the members.  Try and understand that when your post is pulled, it is NOT personal, we are only trying to be consistent and fair as we can for the site's sake.  No need to get bent out of shape, no need to go bizerk or explode.

Think you are alone?....Think we play favorites?..here's a few folks that have had their posts edited or pulled....

Ron LaClair, Dean Torges, Gene Wensel, Barry Wensel, Biggie Hoffman, Charlie Lamb, Curtis Kellar, and Don Thomas just to name a few....So, if you've had a post removed or edited, your in good company.

I've pulled my own post as well as had mods pull mine.

Here'a a little something I wrote about 3 years ago on a thread titles 'Just what's Trad Gang about?'....Maybe it will help some understand Trad Gang a little more....

Trad Gang is obviously about bowhunting the traditional way. But there has been much more revealed during its maiden year.

We are a representative of the true atmosphere of a real hunting campfire.

We share our experiences, our joys, and disappointments.
We share our knowledge and hard knocks.

We learn and improve. We give and receive.
We build each other up, and strive to raise the bar for others as well as ourselves.

We look in awe at the accomplishments of the simple weapon of our choice, and the experiences we witness and the ones we execute.

We strive to be better bowhunters, improving our skills and accuracy. We encourage others in their quest. As a reward, we improve and are encouraged within.

We share the success of others, and they with us. We tell people what they can achieve, not what they can't. We are positive, not negative. We debate and disagree in a gentlemanly way, and as a result we construct, not demolish.

We hold the past in reverence, and look to the future in perseverance, all the while relishing the present.

We are a noble representation of the sport.

Thank you Trad Gang members for your contributions and efforts that inspired the words above.

Thanks Terry.  I appreciate what you and the other moderators do to keep the site focused.

Thank you Terry.

Your firm yet tactful explanation of what Trad Gang is about will surely help the site continue to be what we have come to love.

Well stated and your timeing could not have been better.  Those reminders are things all of us can apply during our time spent on Trad Gang.

That is why I visit this site vs any other.

Terry,

Thank you and the other moderators for what you do to keep us focused. I have been quilty of getting overzealous religously in posts and I forgot that I wasn't supposed to. My appologies to eveyone. I did not mean to offend. I just love
God. I will stay focused on what this site is about. I love trad shooting and bowhunting and this site is wonderful. I have learned so much here and hope to learn and share more for many years to come. Thanks

Good thread Terry. I think we really do need to focus a little more. I'm guilty of drifting off into non-trad land on here.

This has got to be like a full-time job just keeping track of 12000+ members posts.

I've had a couple posts pulled before. Don't always agree 100% but in hindsight it is very important for the health of this websight.

tradgang is my number 1 websight visited and I really appreciate the continuity and level of respect demanded here.

thanks guys

I couldn't agree more with you Terry ! I have only been on this site less than a year. Thanks for a great site. Formerbutcher
It's a great day to be alive !!

There is something spiritual in the flight of an arrow, but some posts do get way off topic. BOW HUNTING WITH TRAD GEAR. When people ask what I do, I tell them I am a bowhunter. Sure, I have a spiritual life, a job, family, political viewpoint, etc., but I bowhunt and that is why Tradgang is at the top of my "favorites" list. Keep up the good work Terry and mods.

It must be size-related, Ron...oh wait, Biggie is behind you so that can't be it!  :bigsmyl:    :biglaugh:

I know I've had some killed...but he didn't even mention me so should I be offended?

Nah Ron....no particular order.  We just get acussed of playing favorites from time to time, and that's just not the case.

OK.....and Ray Hammond.   :D

Anyone else want their name added he he!!!

Remember when I said we were 'positive not negative'?

Here's a post by Rob that was read negative by a member just today....

Is this a throwing 'hawk?

Rob. [/b]
I got an email from a member that felt Rob was using police entrapment tactics to get the thread pulled......he obviously read the post negative.

If you read it positive, then you can see that Rob is asking so the thread can stay.  If not, then Rob had to pull it to be fair to all the other members that had throwing hawk threads pulled.  Being fair is a positive as well.

Any post you see by a moderator, or email you receive can have two tones....all depends on how you want to read it.  If you read it in a positive tone I think things are understood much easier.....as we all know the typed word is often miss-read.  That's why a lot of the times I email people my phone number.
