Gray Wolf Wolfskin...Like/Dislike

Considering buying Gray Wolf Wolfskin hunting clothes. Who has it and what do you like and dislike about it besides the price? What liner would you get with it ? He is based about an hour away from me so I will go visit before I buy just would like some opinions.

I have it with the liteloft and thinsulate and wear the pullover most of the season after it gets a little chilly. My bibs I don't wear utill it really starts to get cold becasue they are very warm, and I'm a person who gets cold pretty easy. They say it's not waterproof but I wore my pullover in a driving rainstorm last fall and the rain never soaked through. I would say that without a doubt the best set of hunting clothes that I have ever owned. Jeff is a stand up guy and his customer service is phenominal.

I have had Wolfskin bibs and a jacket for 6 or 7 years. I love the stuff. It is my favorite by far of all my hunting clothes, and it is worth every penny. It has no drawbacks that I have discovered.

Mark (the previous owner) used to caution that it is not really waterproof, but he added that once, wearing it, he rode around on his motorcycle at 60 mph in heavy rain for an hour and water didn't penetrate. It dries very, very fast. Simply putting it through the spin cycle in a washing machine leaves it dry.

It is not puncture-proof in the way that cordura is but you have to work at poking a hole in it. Your basic cat-claw briars and thorns are probably not going to tear it the way cotton will tear. I am told that the orginal version was somewhat more prone to punctures than the version on the market since 2000 or so.

I have the uninsulated versions. When temps drop into the low 20s for tree stand hunting I wear them over a couple of sets of long underwear, wool shirt, your basic, nothing special stuff. I find that even without a windproof liner, the stuff breaks the wind quite well.

I have it in Predator Gray and have no complaints about that either.

I second the praise for the current owner, Jeff. Great guy, easy to do business with, honest, helpful and he gets stuff out without delay.

I have two pair of Wolfskin outfits. I have the pullover and pants, one uninsulated and the other with the comfortmax liner. I'll probably not have to buy any camo for a long time to come. The lined version is awesome, if it's cold and windy wear layers underneath and you could stay on stand all day. The woflskin fabric is very soft to the touch as well. You won't be disappointed.

? for those of you with the liner. How well does it breathe if you are on the move like when elk hunting?

I have Wolfskin pants w/o the liner. Great stuff. I wear a pair of light fleece pants underneath and hike a lot. Almost waterproof even here in AK.

I absolutely love it for hunting in warmer weather. I think it's much better than cotton. But if your looking for something for the cold weather, then you better go with the wool stuff. Take it from a skinny guy who gets cold easily, it is hard to beat the wool for when it gets cold.

I have a set that I absolutely love. AS mentioned, although it's not promoted as rain gear, it really is good. I wore it in a pretty good rain last year and figured I would eventually get soaked, but the water never reached my inner layers.

I bought the uninsulated wolfskin and am happy with that set up. It allows me to wear it most of the season. During elk season it is comfortable even in warm temperatures, and when things get colder I just layer underneath. When things get really cold I do have a set of wool, but I wear the wolfskin the vast majority of the season.
