Whitetail Chaser

Here is a better pic of the demo Silvertip that I shot last week.  Is it common to shoot heavy spines with a 'tip?  This one shot 2117's great at about 55lbs.  What do you experts think?

Mine will be a charcoal riser with a rosewood stripe and rosewood limbs.  Just ordered it a few days ago.

Arrow4Christ

what weight point are you using?

Whitetail Chaser

I was shooting 200gr field points.  What about a 2018 for a 53lb silvertip?  Shafts would be 30 inches and points would be 150-200 grains.

This thread should win some kind of award!

And, welcome, Dave and Beth!

Jim Rocole

A 2018 is what Dave recommends for 54#-59# bow with a 125 gr. head and 28" draw. 59#-64# = 2117
64#-70# = 2117 or 2216. for every in you increase over a 28" draw go up one arrow spine.

my bow is a 56# @28" and I am shootin a 2216 with a 175 gr. head. This combo gives me tremendous arrow flight.

Arrow4Christ

Is string length 3" shorter than bow length on the 'tips?

BlackDog

Always enjoy looking at everyone's bows. Here's mine, bocote and zebrawood limbs.

Tim, Great looking bows....Those Russian Olive limbs are awesome looking!!!!!
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Carcajou

Oh, Tim, my man, exactly how MANY whitetails has that Silvertip of yours accounted for this past season??

I hear that there isnt enough room for any more notches on the lower limb!!!!!!

Hello Scott...

I'm fortunate to have a very full freezer, which is important with a 15 year old boy in the house...damn this boy eats. I had a real nice year and I must say it helps to live in an area with very liberal tag limits.

My son didn't offer much help this season due to high school and lacrosse committments so I had to convince my wife I needed to spend twice as much time in the woods!!!! It worked!!!!

Here's a photo of our last outing a few weeks back. I must have seen 50 deer that day! My son almost filled a doe tag, they just needed to come 5 more yards and he would have been comfortable with the shot.

Notice the bow in his hand!

Tim: total class!  Love those camo limbs!
