Woody, the field where Charlie's buck landed was covered with nodules of some kind of flint/chert, bet you would have been pickin' up rocks all day.

I thought  the rocks looked..."placed". I didnt even notice they were flint!
And to think I could be in Texas soon...

Still enjoying this thread guys....thanks for sharing.

Like my 8 year old daughter Sarah said just the other night.  "Lets build a fire, roast some marsh mellows, and make some memories".....that we did indeed at Solana.

Jamie... the rocks look placed because they were! If you study the pictures of the rocks you'll see some showing dirt on their top.

If they have been turned up right where they lay there would be a hole that them left behind.

Something that was pointed out to me that hadn't occurred to me at all was that when hogs use a feeder, the root around to get every last morsel of corn.
In doing that, they dislodge rocks and eventually those rocks get nudged away from the site of the feeder in a circle or semi circle.

That's what those rocks are and why they look out of place.
