T, we may celebrate it together in one bowhunt!hahaha

In Spain, I usally hunt roedeer, and wildboar. There are also some reddeer, but not many in the place I hunt. ALso small game, such as partriche, quail,woodcock..Its a beatifull country for hunting, but not as wild as USA or Canada. And the bowhunting has just started, and in many places they dont have regulations. If you are planning to visit, tell me!

In Spain you can also hunt the chamoix, and the Ibex (beatifull animal, and there are many possibilities to hunt it with bow).

Good hunting,
Pedro

Been to Maine, Brian, (a lot, lived there 6 years) Loved it and love your pics.Fished Portland a few times but salt water - Slammer Blues! (Down here we call 'em Hatteras Blues - LOL)

Been to Spain too, Pedro, (a little - hit Maloga twice for two or three days each) Loved it, but of course never got out of the city (that was in the fifties), loved your pics too. One thing that stuck in my mind was the little girls and old women gathering chunks of coal around the docks in their baskets, evidently it was not a boys or mans job as boys were there but not gathering coal - and the friendliness of the folks in general.

This thread is great!!!

Hello Pedro; No, I just took my dog that day with me to train him to be calm and quiet and he was on the leash while I was hunting. We saw some deer and he was shaking but held still. I had a guide in the Czech Rep. one time that had a phenomenal dog. He placed his dog by a tree and the pigs came walking by the dog at 20 yards. I shot two pigs and the dog didn't even move.

I use my dogs for tracking wounded game. Mainly moose, bear, elk and deer.

Hello Maxim,
is your dog a laika? I have seen them in Khabarovsk region, where they use them for sun bear, grizzly, moose and the pigs. It takes a long time to train a good dog and then the tiger gets it   :(  .  I got to see this very interesting deer. I sure like to bowhunt that one day.

There're not bowhunting in Russia, but there are trad bowhunters   :)
Bowhunting is prohibited now - why nobody knows, but we hope that new hunting laws coming soon. Maybe. The other side of this is that almost nobody tooks seriously man with the bow in the woods - so I hunt all I see and can, august-november.
2 Mooseman
Yes, laika. Most universal hunting dog ever seen I believe. But in Khabarovsk you have seen Eastern Siberian breed - my Lada is West Siberian. There are little difference.
Death in the forest is laika's "professional risk" There are not tigers here in European part of the country, but wolfs, bears, elks and wild boars kill them as well...
Why you don't use them in Canada?

Stag

Mooseman,

What breed is that dog? It looks nice but I cannot identify it.

Stag

Wild Russian

Stag,
laika is the name of the breed. Northern traditional hunting dog. As old as hunting homo sapience  :)
There are a lot of modern laika breeds or breeds, very close to them -elkhunds, finnish bear dogs in Europe etc. Siberian laika is aboriginal dogs of Siberian groups and Russian settlers, are made "official" breeds in the 1st half of 20 century.
Make a search by Google, maybe you'll find more info.
