It's prettier every time I look at it, Gordon, and I've already gone back and looked at it three times on my TBD pages -   :goldtooth:

Oh yes, that is a good looking bow.

Gordon, that is a real work of art, I bet she shoots great with that tiller. I love a straight longbow, that comes back to a slight reflex when unstrung. You have just inspired me......there is a snowstorm coming...should be snowed in the shop for the next few days.....off to the shop!  Again..beautiful bow, thank you for sharing. LittleTree

Ghost Dog

OK, sure it is a great looking bow, but the hat thing is making me nuts. Which one is it, Gordon, as you are modeling two different hats? You need a "signature" hat. I am leaning towards the kind of Alpine looking hat. It makes me want to yodel and drink cheap wine out of a bota bag. The other hat just makes me want to watch a Humphrey Bogart film.

gordonf

That's funny Bob. The Austrian hat is what I wear when I am shooting or hunting. I wear the other hat when I'm just kicking around town or in the rain. I have a different alpine hat that I wear when I go fishing that all of my fishing buddies know me by.

Terry Riley

Ghost Dog,
Gordon told me that he gets those yodeling hats at the Keebler cookie factory. He waits until the end of the work shift then jumps one of the littler guys when they're not looking. He said he now has two of them. He does make a nice bow though...  :biglaugh:

Hunting elk and deer up in the Cascades I often wondered if vine maple would make good bows...that's a definite YES if someone like Gordon is doing the bowmaking. How long do you season the wood Gordon? I might give this bowmaking thing a try.  David

gordonf

David, it takes a couple of months for a split log to season - shorter if you rough the stave out first.
