Who uses them? and which type? I like the idea of protecting the tip but wondered about dirt or grit getting between it and the limb causing damage of with the leather ones it could hold moisture on the tip messing the finish up?

I'm placing an order and need to figure out if I want one

Thanks, Ron

The rubber ones from 3 rivers work real well.  Very tight fit, no worries about thing getting in there.
I have them on all of my bows.

I must have got a bad batch of the rubber ones from 3rivers awhile back. Every one of them split after putting them on. These were the ones advertised as "camo" in sort of a gray color. The tan ones have held up fine.

Gray Buffalo

I use the leather ones with no problems. If  they get wet they dry out quick.
I try not to let my mind wander...It is too small and fragile to be out by itself.

I just got three from 3 rivers they are the 4029 recurve & longbow tip protector. they fit tight work very good and well worth 2.25.

The rubber ones will hold water quite a while if you get caught in the rain.

I make my own out of leather, they work good for me, plus they look better than rubber. imo
It's a great day to be alive !!

Thanks all I ordered the brown rubber one, if it doesn't work out I will try the leather ones

6 POINT

I make my own out of leather and put drain holes in them to let the water out and let the tip dry. I also use the B/W ones that have holes in them for drainage. I've heard of tip damage due to no water drainage from the protector. I also use them to keep the string on the lower limb when I'm stringing the bow.

I have never used one? Just refinish it once in a while if it gets skuffed. Don't like anything on the tips of my limbs? Just me!

If it was a $100 bow I might not be too upset it I scuffed it up but at a cost of almost $600 I will do my best to keep it protected. wear and tear is going to happen while hunting but I will do my best to minimize it.

White Oak

I used to use the rubber ones but we have 3 bows here with really beefy limb tips. I couldn't find a rubber one large enough to fit. Went to leather and like them.

I just stuck on some of that camo fleece/felt made to line sight windows.  Very light and works great.  Can still fit the tips in the stringer.  Covered both tips and held up well through bow season.  Steve

I made a leaher one.  Didn't really like it.  Read somewhere on here about old baby bottle nipples.  I went to Wally World and bought a 3 pack of pacifiers, the orthodontist type.  Took it apart, slipped it on, and she works great.  Verly noticeable.  ANd she won't grow up to have an overbite...  :smileystooges:

I cut a narrow piece of leather about 2-21/2" long in an hourglass shape fold over the tip the narrow part at the string groves and put a rubber band to hold it in place easy to remove and protects the tip cost nothing.Kip

ID like to see some pics of the leather ones that have been made
