Since our friends at Easton have killed the 6mm fmj which I love, guess I have to go to the 5mm.  Can anyone tell me about the hit inserts with a 3 blade vpa?  Do I need a bar?  I would rather not nutz around with footings and collars, etc.  55 lb bw hunting deer only for the purposes of this discussion and 200 gr field points for practice.

Do you install with big Jim's hot melt for tuning and then go to the epoxy? I am not hunting concrete blocks but not sure if hot melt will hold a hit insert like it does the rps insert.

Kelly

I prefer the half out inserts, much stronger and easy in/out with hot melt.

Speaking of fmj, much prefer the 4mm size but lower spines are getting hard to find. Even the 5mm is not available in 500 spine or even less.

FMJ 5mm is what I use for hunting with the HIT inserts I use 1"aluminum footing but lately I am going with the Hal Out. Easier and faster, maybe more strong too.
