Guys don't let hunting Africa only be a dream. Make a plan and make it happen, you wont regret it. I take groups to Sofala Safaries in South Africa most every year and can guide you through the process of getting ready as well as seeing you through the travel process all the way to Sofala from Atlanta to the gate.

This is a waterhole at Sofala called the Pan, it was where I took my first African animal with a sinew backed bow a few years ago and a sight that you can see most days at every waterhole. Call me to plan your adventure of a lifetime.

Behind this gate is where the memories are made!

Also guy's there is another page on here dedicated to Africa called the Dark Continent! Go over there sometime and see all the stuff that other hunters are putting on there about their hunts, there is more here than just the Pow Wow.

Great Stuff Mike is talking about.  My 1st animal came from 'The Pan'...

Here's the short video of the 3 of us in that pic with our impala trophies...

I too can recommend Sofala.  We planned to go back this year. Unfortunately, I suffered a soft tissue injury in my drawing elbow.  Still not completely recovered.  With the help of an orthopedic specialist and an excellent sport's physical therapist, I did not have to miss much shooting at its worse.  So, maybe next year.

And definitely don't forget the lady traditional archers.  My Wife was their First Lady traditional archer with her wildebeest [attachment=1,msg3029893]

GREAT!!!!

How about the specs on her bow and arrow weight?

She was shooting a Timberhawk Odyssey, 49# draw using larch arrows weighing 595 to 600 grains.  On the end was a Bear Grizzly single bevel two blade.

The shot was quartering away.  The arrow sank to the fletching.  We still had to wait until morning for the recovery because after her shot I shot another wildebeest in the group which we recovered that evening

I'm going to spend my kids inheritance there in July.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

To me, it was like Noah's Arc there were so many animals.  It truly is a trip of a lifetime....but then you want to go back!

Nice.  We haven't gotten any of our hides or skulls back from last June.   The taxidermist had everything done except crating them up by February.  Unfortunately, we or our broker haven't heard from them since we completed the paperwork.  Getting a little concerned.

That is a little odd. I always have everything done over here.

Thanks everyone for sharing you experiences! I didn't realize how attainable or affordable an Africa hunt could be for a young buck like me  :biglaugh: Honestly is probably a better deal than going out west or up to alaska and paying all out of pocket for everything.

Honestly, I spent many years thinking I'd save enough to go one day. Finally went last year with Mike and realized that I'd rather get a loan and enjoy it now, pay on it for a couple of years, than find out next year I won't live to see a hunt next year and never have gone.
No I didn't need a loan but I'm glad I just decided to go regardless.

I am quite interested in the actual possibility in 2025.
