I have 2 bows I want to shoot the same arrow

I have 2 bows that are each 60"  and 40 lbs. at my draw of 28" same grip style. One is cut to center (Longbow) and the other is 1/8" or more short of center (recurve). Will the recurve need a heavier point weight longer arrow and the longbow a lighter point and a shorter arrow or do I have it backwards. If I do have it right how much point weight difference. I am just trying to get it close so when I can get outside (40" of snow right now) it will be in the ballpark. McDave  and Orion have helped me out many many times. All input would be great to get me going in the right direction. Thanks

Personally I would just add weight to the arrow for that not to center cut bow. Like if the point is 145 grains try 160 grains. I learned the hard way to only cut as a last resort, screwed up a dozen arrows that way.

Hmmmmm.  Before doing anything, try the exact same arrow in both bows and see how it shoots. It just might shoot well out of each of them.  Generally, because the longbow is less efficient (if it's a longbow and not a hybrid) than a recurve and because it's cut to center, but not past like the recurve, you'll need a longer arrow or more point weight on the arrow intended for the longbow. (You have it backward.)

If your "longbow" is a hybrid, it's likely to be about as efficient as your recurve.  Then you only have a 1/8-inch difference in center cut to deal with.  If that's the case, you might be able to achieve the same arrow spine, length and weight for both bows by building out the side plate a bit on the recurve.

I'm also assuming you have the same string material on each bow.  If you have dacron on one and low stretch on another, additional modification might be necessary.

You'll just need to experiment a bit to find a combination that works.  God luck.

I think Orion is thinking that the recurve is cut past center, which would be the usual case, but you are saying that the recurve is cut "short" of center.

If Orion's assumption is correct, then I agree with what he and M60 said, and couldn't add much to that.  But if the recurve is actually cut short of center, that changes things a little.

Just shoot them out of both bows and see. I can shoot the same arrow out of half a dozen different bows of different weights from 30-40#. You might just be amazed how versatile a particular arrow might be!

I have 7 bows that all shoot the same arrow but different points from 125 to 250gr ..... just get a bare shaft of the arrow you want to shoot and bare shaft that to each bow and work around the point weights..    you'll find it may be more of adjusting brace and tweaking the string nocks to get a perfectly straight bare shaft at 20yds.

Tune the arrow for the bow requiring the weaker arrow and then build the side plate out on the other until it shoots.

Big Jim's fox is what I would do as well. Not hard at all to tune the bow to the arrow that way.
