I really like the the product but hated the velcro closure.  I found the velcro got gummed up over time with lint and lost it's adhesion, it got hung up and came undone easy, and worst of all made noise in the woods when I was trying to be quiet.  So I cut up an old Neet glove and salvaged the strap.  Did a little sewing.

Crude sewing but is super functional and comfy and really has become my favorite glove.

Don't get me wrong it is a great product.  I just disliked the closure and thought I would share my customization. :coffee:[attachment=1][attachment=2]

My 1st American Leathers Big shot lasted like 7 or 8 years, never had an issue with the velcro 'gumming up' nor with noise cause I put in on when I got out of the truck and left it on till I got back in.  If I needed my fingers, I just gave my hand a sling and my fingers came out.

Very nice modification though, glad it solved your problem.

I've had the same issue with both the ones that I had. Eventually the velcro just wouldn't hold anymore after a few years, and drawing back would oftentimes cause the velcro to come undone, which as you mentioned, is not ideal for in the woods. Might have to try your modification, that looks like it works well.

I've never had either issue as well, but great ingenuity .

When I take mine off I fasten the Velcro that seems to work.

Yeah, Wud, I fasten mine around my bow grip most of the time so maybe that's why it doesn't lint up.

Just not a fan of velcro. Really like my improvement. Thanks

I wonder if an alternative might be to use the original straps, cut off the stitches that hold the Velcro on, and put a snap where the Velcro was?

McDave may be on to something here. I may try it but after my new straps are older. Just had my 3 gloves refurbished, one was from original owners. Elk big shot, now has two toned look. Also noticed the straps are wider, I believe because the area where the strap meets the glove was a weak point. At my age I believe I am set forever.
