Feathers up, Feathers down

I have noticed that nearly everyone mounts their bow mounted quivers with feathers down. Why is that? I find my arrows work loose being top heavy and it works better for me to carry feathers up. Is there a specific reason for feathers down?

There easier to pull  down feathers down and load .  Also if you hunting lots of feathers different colors and game can spot it easier and haul butt with one with your feathers higher .  Also if your " feathers UP" and you drop a hunting arrow you have a broadhead heading towards your leg or boot [foot] .

Probly the biggest reason.... (IMHO)

Is that going through brush/weeds, anything that catches your feathers, lays them down naturally.
As apposed to pushing them backward toward the point.

Also, keeps rain out of BH is foul weather.

Spur. Folks have already provided most of the reasons for carrying arrows point up.  If your arrows are coming loose in the quiver, either the channels in the hood foam have worn and become too big, and/or the arrow grippers are too loose. May need to replace the hood foam.  You can tighten the grippers by twisting a rubber band from one arrow opening to the next or use small O rings to do the same.

I use an arrow fletching cover. Here is my go to hunting bow.  I used to make my own, or should i say my wife made them for me out of a camo handkerchief and a piece of elastic.  This cover has an open bottom, but the ones my wife made had a bottom.  The ones with a bottom will fill up with leaves and pine needles, but they would catch an arrow falling out.    Kirk

BTW... i replace my foam insert every couple years. This is a Sellway strap on that i like a lot. I've used it for 10 years now.

I also use a fletching cover made from the sleeve of a 2XL camo shirt. Attaches to the bottom of my quiver.

If your arrow "gripper" has worn and lost its grip just get a tube of "GOOP".  Use a toothpick and coat the inside of the grippers with a fresh layer of rubber.   Works wonders.

Good idea Bak, up until now I've stretched rubber bands from hole to hole to make up the space. It also works.

For me the reason is a safety concern, with the broadhead up I can clearly see where it is at all times and less chance of poking myself, my bow or bow string
