After the hunting season I enjoy putting down the bow I chose to dedicate the hunting season to and resume shooting my other bows. I have several highbred longbows of different specs, but my HH style straight end longbow is always so refreshing. It seems so foregiving and shoots a wide range of arrows, both spine and weight. It is not finicky and can be shot at varying brace heights. Even a less than perfect shot is still right in there. Always great arrow flight and my quietist bow by far. I have shot several deer with the HH style over the 24 years I have owned it. What a steal for $200 from John McDonald. I think it takes owning several bows to appreciate the unique properties they all have. So happy I am not the one saying I never should have sold that one.

Yup.  Had one of mine out today as well...nice day to shoot and test the new woodies I finished yesterday.  600 gr. arrows, 52# Wesley, soooo quiet.  Arrows shot great, a really nice time outside.  We all need a break once in awhile.

I love my Hill-style bows and love shooting them. They're beautiful with a classic look and very light in the hand when walking around the bush.

However, I find them very finicky and difficult to shoot compared to my Black Widow PCH.

Tradcat

This is just my opinion. Out of all the bow model profiles that I have shot, the Hill Style ASL is by far the most forgiving and rewarding

My first ASL was a John McDonald.  Shot a big bodied 3point buck with it.  He makes nice bows at a great price

If I had a HH style bow that shot as well as described by gordydog, it would be my go to bow for hunting and 3D at all times. Wait, I do have that (actually three of them).

My favorite HH bow is a Northern Mist by Steve Turray

I make my own, but I own a several of Steve's bows. The fit, finish, and function are what I aspire to at all times.  I don't make them the same way, but definitely use them as a reference for what a bow should be like. Killed a bunch of critters with em. Good stuff. I've owned and shot many Hill style bows, his are premo.

Ron I know what you mean, my favorite Hill style bow is made by Steve too.   :biglaugh: :biglaugh:  They all shoot great, but my go to right now is my Skanee with 55# limbs that make a 66" bow, and a set of 45# limbs that make a 60" bow.  I love shooting all of them, and they are all just a bit different.

Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

If you're going Hill style what better way than with a Howard Hill Bow?

I am just sitting here waiting for my grilled deer burgers, mixed with a bit of brisket, to digest. I don't want to make people envious, so no pictures, but later i am going to go out a shoot some arrows. I am not in the market for a new bow, no longer a bow hoarder, mostly because I do not believe that JD or Nate or anyone else, can out do what i already got from them. Nothing makes a longbow look purdier than a Weber with a rack full of deer meat.

I'm really liking this new to me Kim Sha Mattawoman II. Might take it out wandering around for turkeys next month...
