Arrow selection and spine concerns

Hello trad gang!

I recently picked up a bear grizzly  55lbs @28".
I can't seem to put it down, and am determined to hunt with it. Im new to trad and currently shoot 400 spine arrows with 200gr upfront. Arrows are cut to 30.5 my typical draw is 29.
I'm tryin to get more FOC, every other weight choice I throw at it im getting nock left... are there any alternatives, other than getting a stiffer spine?

Hi Austin, welcome to TradGang.  Assuming the arrow you described is well tuned to your bow, you could increase point weight and still stay in tune by cutting 1/2" off your arrow length.  You don't really need an arrow that is 1 1/2" longer than your draw length.  You would have to test to determine how much you could increase your point weight, but 50-100 grains would not be unreasonable to expect from reducing length by 1/2".

You have plenty of FOC.  Good arrow flight is more important than a bit more FOC,
LOTS of game was killed with cedar and aluminum arrows tipped by 125 grain heads before heavy FOC became the rage.
