The classic will be here before we know it but I don't know about that "Iron" Buck looks like a lot of broke arrow in the future for someone , question is am I smart enough to not shoot at it? ;{

You've shot at the iron fox haven't you, Grant?   :bigsmyl:   :thumbsup:

Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

You bet Pat,  never said I was smart enough not to try the problem with the fox is it is not hard to hit    the tough part is to miss it in the right place!!

I was 3/3 on the iron fox last year, proving the saying it's better to be lucky than good! Will give the iron buck a try or two. Thankfully my aluminum shafts are cheap.  :goldtooth:

King, aluminum bends nicely when it hits steel.  :thumbsup:

Pat, I'd consider it an honor to stab my bent up aluminum arrows into that hallowed ground.

A new addition under the Twin Oakes bow shed in honor of a great guy and great selfbow builder and teacher.

My son and I are planning on bring there. What time should we plan on getting there? First trad shoot since moving here. Thanks

Pat B

Joe, the official dates are April 29, 30 and May 1 but folks start showing up the Friday before; better chance at a good camping site then. The 2 official 20 target courses won't be open until the official shoot dates but they have a 40 target practice course plus plenty of target butts. Venders usually start coming in about mid week and the bow shop is always open for building selfbows. Again this year, they will have the "Selfbow Challenge" where you buy a stave(hickory) from the club and with the help of many experienced selfbow builders you build a selfbow and on Sunday morning the Selfbow Challenge shootout begins on the regular competition course where the Selfbow Challenge participants shoot against each other for trophies.
The concession stand opens on Friday for the weekend and on Saturday evening is the potluck supper where everyone is invited to eat. The campfire is always going and firewood is available for free for campers and camping is free. Your only real costs is the shoot fee($20 I think) and food. You and your son can have all the rest of the fun for free.

Only thing that compares to the actual shooting is the time with friends and family spent there. Twin Oaks is my happy place!

From Pappy this morning. Plenty of firewood for the Classic...
   ":) :) :) Got the big trees down without hitting anything important so i am relieved  :) we got them cut up and ready to split and add to the wood pile, the oak was much larger than it looked standing, ??? had to break out my 28 inch saw to cut up the trunk, should make a lot of wood, now headed down this morning to clean and burn the limbs, we made quite the mess but going to be a lot of very good firewood so worth the trouble. 1 more big cherry tree to cut close to the cabin, when it is down on the ground safe I will feel much better. :) :)"
