That is a dream, until you look at how big he is and you have to get him out, alone, dream turns into a nightmare. BUT you have the rest of your life to relive a job well done and the sense of satisfaction must be huge. On public land no less...

My mouth is watering as I text this.
Congratulations on the whole thing! The hunt, the bull, the roast- everything.

Congratulations on a great Bull. That was one heck of a shot!

Thanks everyone. I owe the shot, really, to my bow, ElkMaster. It is very forgiving of release errors and other such lapses in form. If I ever miss it is never right or left, only too high or too low. It took me a few years to match up with a bow but when I did I made my vow:

Great looking bull.  Looks like it should have been a 6 trip pack out!

What a great hunt and Bull Elk!  I have have done the DIY Elk hunt and the processing and packing out is a lot of hard work!  Congratulations and appreciate your sharing the story.....

Congratulations!

You done good.....Really Good!
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Congrats on a fine bull. Just awesome!  Great looking meat too. Your family should enjoy plenty of great meals from that bull.

What state did you find such an nice bull?
