I’m no longer sharpening challenged

Ordered 250 grain cutthroat single bevels. Awesome head but come as advertised needing sharpening prior to use. After some researching sharpening techniques I came across a Stay Sharp 24 degree jig. Called # on website and spoke with the system's designer. He has you tube sharpening videos under the name innovative outdoorsman. Great guy great sharpening system. Ordered the 3 blade system and the single bevel jig. I've now taken these cutthroats from the out of package condition shown and some 175 grain woodsman broadheads and worked through a progression of 5 sandpaper grits to what I now realize is shaving sharp. This is the first time I can say I prefer an unfinished head and taking ownership and pride in the sharpening process. Only problem now is I'm running out of space on my arm for sharpness testing.

Yep, 3d printing is making simple designs like this much more accessible for the common man. I'm in the process of designing a knife sharpening jig for my mom's kitchen knives so she can sharpen them herself when I'm not around.

Brother take what I'm saying as nothing negative. Anything at all takes us out of an equation is not doing it ourselves. It's not very hard to learn old school techniques. I hate to hear of "trad" guys abandoning old ways. Who's gonna teach the kids to sharpen a knife, broadhead, etc. I understand you want things shaving sharp, that's important. I'm glad you found a way, better than not getting a broadhead sharp but you must understand you were very able the other way as well. Fellows need to understand searching that out is a viable asnswer

Understand your point I appreciate the old ways for sure, but man is this slick. I would much rather you shoot me with these broadheads than my previous attempts at sharpening.

The stay sharp jigs really do work. I used the C version for my Simmons. It was quicker than my normal chainsaw file and very sharp. I take the file to the field and use the jig at home to start now.

That is awesome.
I love sitting down to sharpen stuff though there is a special warm and fuzzy feeling polishing up some broadheads.

Recently started messing with diamond emulsions straight from either a 300 diamond plate or 800 venev. I really like the edges this produces.
While I consider myself pretty well versed in sharpening. Ive never been satisfied with the edges on 3 blades when layed flat on a stone. If I ever get the itch to dig some out again Ill definitely be looking at the jig for thinning edge like the op is using or a paper wheel.
