Made it back to Virginia from MO.  Great time as usual.  Always good to catch up with Kenny and talk archery and hunting.  Both dogs visited us which was great as well, always good to see Lucky and Zwickey.  We explored some new area and saw a good amount of does.  Can't count on the weather but it was better than the last two years for us.  Sooner or later it will be cool when we go.  Good luck to the next group, if the temps drop there will be a lot of potential.
Kenny as always, thanks for the opportunity and the camaraderie.  Already looking forward to next year.  Now time to concentrate on the rut in NJ.

Such a good experience, combine the hunting with visiting with Kenny and you don't get much better. Looking forward to stories of the other upcoming hunts.

Well, the 2021 Arkansas Assassins Kennym Lease hunt is in the books.  This was our 11th hunt in a row.  Every year they seem to go by so quickly.  It doesn't seem like we have been doing this for that long.  We told out wives 11 years ago it was just going to be this once in a lifetime thing.  HaHaHa!  We talked all the way home about which tree we were going to put a stand in next year.

We didn't take many pictures this year for some reason.  I took a few and so did Noah and Darrell.  I'll try to get some posted when I figure out how.  It has been a while.

We had a great time with wonderful weather.  The only I guess complaint was that it was really heavy wind a couple days.  We killed three deer.  Two doe and one buck.  We all had some swing and misses.  Especially Luke!  I have to give him a raspberry because he got off the most shots.  But, ole lucky was not so lucky.  I don't actually know how many he missed.  I do know he missed one twice!  LOL

We saw multiple 120+ bucks.  We always do.  We saw a few even bigger.  I set up on a really nice buck I found on the first morning of scouting.  He was bedded with a doe.  I set my stand that afternoon and got on it the next morning.  I hadn't seen a thing by 9:30 except a bunch of squirrels.  About 9:45 I heard leaves rustle behind me and I kind of turned my head to look at the squirrel but guess who snuck up on me from behind.  You guessed it.  It was him.  I moved about 30 yards and hunted it two more times and never saw him again.

Sunday afternoon I missed a nice 8 pointer.  He looked a bit closer than he was and I shot under him quite a bit.  We had a lot of trouble getting the deer to stand still so we could kill them. HaHaHa.  Monday afternoon I had to stop a doe and made a real good shot on her at 10-12 yards.  She made it about 50-60 yards and I watched her pile up.  Tuesday afternoon I got into my stand and got everything situated and just knocked an arrow and sat down and a little 6 point walked by at about 15 yards.  I didn't even hesitate, just eased back my longbow and let her fly.  He made two hops and looked back in my direction.  Made two more hops and fell over.  I was amazed.  I had not been in my stand 5 minutes.  I text the boys and told them I had just killed a buck.  I looked up to admire him and he was standing!  I about swallowed my tongue.  I grabbed another arrow and as I was knocking it he fell over again for the last time.  I double lung shot him and he never had a chance.

I bought an extra doe tag so I could hunt Wednesday morning because we were all going home Wednesday afternoon.  I had a doe almost make it to shooting range but luck was not on my side.  I sure hated getting down and going home.  Back to the realities of work and other stuff.  I have so much fun with my family on this hunt every year.  I have watched my son and son-in-law grow into very skilled hunters and woodsman.  I have watched my grandson learn how to win and lose at this wonderful thing we call hunting.  In the past three years we have taken 11 deer home with us from Linneus.  But to me it is more than the deer.  It is the time spent together as a family and the memories made.  What a great place!  If God is willing I will be back again next year.
