got a killer deal on 3 Mckenzie targets used butv2 in great shape the third needs some repair in and around vitals and head neck joint area.  best way to fill in big vitals hole without buying replacement vital? even if i bought replacement vital to much area chewed up and the vital cost more then i paid for all 3 targets and stands. any help?

For my foam block I use Great Stuff, the expanding I insulation foam. Wrap the vitals with Saran wrap and spray it in. Different colored can have different uses/ densities/prices. I used the blue can last time, it seems denser than others.

Use the foam that expands the least.   :thumbsup:

I have repaired dozens of targets with Great Stuff, some of my targets are 30 years old and still shootable. The key is to repair them before they get to shot out. Most clubs will
l sell you a shot up center section for little or nothing so I have a few spares.

WARNING! Don't let your wheel shooting buddies shoot your patched targets, trad only, wheels will shoot through these patched targets in short order..

I have a new expanding foam that is supposed to be much denser than Great Stuff but haven't tried it yet.

Here is my process on a really bad target, it fell apart on the way home, I paid $5 for it.

Bad shape

Taped and ready for foam, I used old arrow shafts to hold the parts together for the

[attachment=2,msg2976304]correct alignment

I remove the plastic, rasp the expanded foam back to the original shape and color match the paint (rattle can) with the original.

I did these three on the same day;

More pictures, the coon and deer finished. I paid $5 for the coon, perhaps $20 for the deer.

I have 7 deer so I bought a gallon of cheap exterior latex from Lowe's that is the same color as a McKenzie deer. i have found that a thick coat of latex will stop the grainy deterioration that these targets go through when left outside for years.

Three more fixes, these were really shot up as well, they didn't have scoring rings. I may have $35 in all three of these targets combined.

Our club fixed its everyday 3D's like Eric suggested. We bought a block of foam and cut centers to fit. We also used parts from different critters like a bear/deer target to make one. I bought a couple large kitchen knifes at the thrift store for cutting and shaping the repairs. I think we used "liquid nails" for the foam?
