I made this scraper to tiller selfbows, I got tired of cuts and blisters
My friend laser burned it for me

If you have an old handsaw, and I mean an OLD one, don't throw it out. Those old worn out saws were made of good steel. You can cut them up to make furniture scrapers ( or bow scrapers ). A dremel does a good job of cutting up a sawblade, but be careful not to get it too hot. My Dad used to clamp the sawblade down and snap it off.

I have a custom one also, but it's not nearly as nice as yours Max. I had to make this because card scrapers were killing my thumbs.

I should make one like that. My old thumbs don't like pressing on a scraper either. When I'm scraping on a bow, I hold my scraper in one hand. It works because I only scrape the sides of my bows.

Good thing, though I've found the bandsaw blade doesn't flex at all and I have to be careful on not taking too much off one side - but that might just be the operator  The edge seems to hold longer with the thicker steel though 

Want to try a goose-neck scraper one day....then there's the idea for an Eric Kewson Gizmo style scraper that only takes off the high points that's been playing around in my head.

The belly on my selfbows have a crown like the back so flexing is not needed.
The blade I  have was a bandsaw blade, I bought 4' of it at MoJam 4 years ago.

For the guys whose thumbs don't appreciate the traditional card scrapers I made a scraper from an old rotary saw blade that has the edge cut with an arc to it. It does not flex and the curved edge presents to the work surface the same as a card scraper that has been flexed as usual. It is much easier on the hands and works just as well.

I don't seem to have any pics of it, but can get one if anyone cares.
