12 to 15 ft is my preference with good cover. I get better passthru shots from that height...sometimes not from 18-20 feet and then you have a tracking problem sometimes without a good dog!

 When hunting I usually have a couple of judo or blunts tipped arrows in the quiver and like to take a couple of shots from the stand before I get down. On an evening stand I try to take the shots as soon as I get settled in the stand.  Pace off or range likely animal locations and mark those spots.
If I'd known that I would live this long I'd have taken better care of myself.
