Yep, very cool with the girls!  And yes, they do grow up fast.  Enjoy them every chance you get, because you can't go back and get it later.

I've posted this before but I make 3D target from old carpet and currently have a 20 target range (had as many as 37 at one time). Easy to make and have held up well. They have been outside the hot humid weather of South MS since May 2018 and still going strong!

If you rip up your floor to make targets.........you may have a problem.

In 2018 we discovered termites in our home and had to redo a couple walls etc... and as any remodels go the list of things wanted done expanded.

So while ripping out old carpet I thought why waste it and the "Langley Swamp IBO" was established  :goldtooth:

Cool targets are thy stuffed with anything ? one layer of carpet or more ?

South MS Bowhunter

I used more carpet to stuff and placed in the targets to give more realistic look. I also used Right stuff foam to inject in kill zone areas. Stops an arrow really well.

John, those are really cool. I saved the carpet we removed from our living room and hallways recently, so I've got plenty of material for trial and error!  :bigsmyl:

Smag...Am planning to have a WKTG gathering this summer. Have shoveled 5 tons of gravel and spread on the range since last evening. Have four tons left and may still not cover the range. Having the nephew and great nephew over to shoot their sticks in the morning. Thunderstorms and rain forecasted from noon throughout the rest of the day. This old bird could use a break.

This project has been both challenging and fun.

James,

Go for it and be creative!  What I do is find a picture of the game animal I want to build and then free hand sketch onto the back side of the carpet big enough to get a front and back side. Cut out using a box cutter all of the outline (legs, belly, neck, etc...) on one side leaving the line of the back uncut (see hog outline below)

[attachment=1]

With one side cut out leaving the back attached to the other side piece of carpet flip it over and trace out and cut the other side.

You should now have two sides joined at the back. Now stick together using 18-20 gauge wire while stuffing with more scrap carpet placing though body to simulate muscles and building up the kill zone areas. Then I recommend using expanding foam to fill out kill zone and other areas for realistic looks.

Spray paint and place. I use the wire also run though the back to hang between trees.

Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.

Yep I hear ya. My house has a big hole right smack in middle. Tore out entire kitchen (floor to ceilings) and started over. Should be about 60% complete by 22 March and then I been in Garden! The crops wait for no man, so I had to get food in the ground. Beaver aint got nuthin on this dude for last few weeks.
I am slippin down the road to Pappy's Saturday for the March 1 day shoot. Nice weather predicted and always a good time.

Many excellentt ideas and implemented projects have been submitted...thank you.

My own Backyard  Stickbow Playground project is now stickbow ready...still have several open items such as adding 2 more stations and 3 to 4 more 3D targets...the challenge is to have all targets positioned to be shot from each station...am pleased with the results thus far.

Scott ,maybe sometime you will let me shoot there. Looks really top shelf. Excellent work. It looks ready for, a IBO shoot-off.

Kokopelli

Nice !!!
If I could make a suggestion ...................
Get a couple of potted shrubs that you can move around now & then. You can then shoot leaning around them from the left or right. The money shot, though, is to place a shrub about half way to a thirty yard target. The top of the shrub should look to be about even with the top of the 3D target from the shooting stake and open enough to see thru. Unless you're shooting a wiz-bang wheel-bow your arrow will arch up, over the the shrub and down into the critter.
Makes for a neat shot and unless your buddies are used to a shot like that, it's a bet winner.

Kokopelli...thank you for the suggestion...have been looking into artificial plants...was also, quite interested in artificial cactus....PRICEY!!!...still haven't given up.
