It's all good in it's place. My generation grew up with musical movies, variety shows on TV, Dick Clark, Soul Train and of course the beginnings of rock, Motown and classical music on all of our Saturday morning cartoons. I feel fortunate to have grown up during this period. I guess this is where my love for music began.

Watched Lawrence Welk many many times. Seems it was on every time we went to visit my grandparents. "Thank you-a Bobby and Sissy."

Guess I'm a generation behind most of y'all.

As a kid my musical shows were Hee-haw and Solid Gold.
I'm not sure who had it worse you or me.  :biglaugh:

Pat, my wife is the same.  She likes it very quiet.  I'm the opposite.  Classic Rock for me.  I just cannot stand the quiet.  Can't really lose myself if it is quiet.  If that makes any sense.  And, I like to work alone.  However, lately my son has been showing real interest in learning so I've made an exception.

I went through a phase where all I listened to in the shop was The Vitamin String Quartet.  They're so good.  There's also a Chess Music playlist on Spotify that has a good selection of really cool classical numbers.  Lately, though, last year or so, I've been nerdin' it up with a podcast or audiobook.  Half the time I just like hearing somebody talk and I completely forget to pay attention to what they're talking about.  It's a lot better to do that with an audiobook than it is with a lady, hence the reason I have to put on a podcast to hear somebody talking.

I only listen to metal. Ozzy, Cooper, Maiden, Priest, AC/DC, Five Finger Death Punch, Metallica, Machine Head, Testament, Dio, Haltstrom, etc...  A fast beat helps me sand and file quicker, better, and longer. As Halestrom said, "I like it heavy".

Loved country music up through The Haggard after not so much.  Couldn't tell you the last time I had the radio on.  If only there was a Bob Wills, Jimmy Rodgers station.  I also like bluegrass but not new grass.
