Got my trade bow shaped, tillered, put over 100 arrows thru it, built a new string, and final sanded.  I will try to put the filler coat on tomorrow evening and spray it later this week.

My buddy Otis looks like I feel.

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Dave,
That is a really nice bow.

Very nice Walt.

Otis looks tired, he help you build it?

Thanks Walt. The braced profile looks a lot like that of your bow.
I can't wait to see yours finished. I think it's colors are going to pop.
This year seems like an exceptional one for good looking bows. Maybe we have more time to dedicate to building due to all the lockdowns and restrictions.
A small bit of silver lining in an otherwise crappy time.

I was going to put a leather handle on, but I like the Walnut to much.  Have to make a string and it will be shipping this week.

You're right about the walnut. It's too nice to cover up.
Nice bow.

Thanks and it shoots very well...

I forget the name of some of the wood he used but his Dad had it in their shop for a long time.

I felt honored Dave used it in a bow for me.

:archer2:

It was some 40 year old curly koa. Pretty hard to get as lumber anymore, I believe they stopped allowing it to be exported from the islands in raw form awhile ago. But nothing is too good for Roy...

Good news is I passed all my concealment inspections yesterday. Bad news is that everything is still crazy and I was already planning to run well into the grace period with a backup to send a bow I built for myself last year that just needs a finish. So when Chris said he had to make some swaps and offered me an offramp, I thought hard about it but knew it was probably the best choice. Some amazing bows being made this year and I'm grateful that Chris is doing such a good job running this thing. I certainly plan to be back next year.

Hopefully things slow down Dave and you can get some fun time in. I know how it is, just finished a two year remodel project, it wasn't fun! I think I got some of that koa in your bow last year, it's gorgeous.

A few more applications of finish, doll up the shelf and it will be ready for a stamp.
