great looking bow Stic!
began fine tuning limbs and handle
Now for my tragedy....
built over 100 bows overtime and never had a failure like this!
My victims bow was coming along nicely, tuning in limbs and handle.
well on the final shot it blew up in my face, cutting my nose and eyelid..thank God I did not loose an eye.
After forensics there was a wormhole in the wood in a area internal that had to weaken it.

Now back to the beginning.....[attachment=1]  :o

That sucks, glad to hear you weren't seriously hurt. I always wear safety glasses or impact resistant sunglasses while shooting in a bow for just this reason. There is a lot of stored energy in a drawn bow and it is uncomfortably close to your face if a failure were to occur.

Good thing you weren't seriously hurt.

What are the woods in that blew up one? Glad you are not seriously hurt.

I pulled my second candidate out of the clamps and sanded off the glue boogers and rough edges. The riser had slipped a bit, but it sanded out ok. This bow feels heavy for some reason. It has more curve to it than the first bow and the core is maybe 1/64" thicker. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference.

Thanks all...

Walnut, with dymondwood flair. plus fiberglass overlays..

Found a worm hole that could have weaken at pivot point that was not externally visible :dunno:

It looks like there could've been a adhesion problem on that accent lam. Was it glass?

Roy from Pa

The worm hole definitely wouldn't do it any good.

Crooked Stic

In my opinion walnut is not a good riser wood. But some of it looks good. And is way better off with an I beam.

Tracked my swap bow and someone should be getting a bow very soon.

Ugh, never enough time.  I really hate going out of town.  Why can't  my car sell itself and wire me the money?

Shredd

Well that sucks....  Glad we are not gonna be calling you 'one eye Bo'...   ;)

The phone has been ringing and got tons of work plus all kinda of projects goin on...  All I gotta do is glue a strike plate and arrow rest on this puppy and she'll be good to go...

Oh....  And make a string....  Oh... And package her up....

And you are still out of town?

Mike, this bow is gorgeous. Your craftsmanship is excellent!  The bow is the cleanest I've ever seen. The transitions are so good that the overlays almost look like they are printed on the bow.

She is a sweet shooter! Dead in the hand and nearly silent.  She pushes my 550 grains downrange fast and they bury deep in the target. Only took me three rounds to get dialed in on my grouping.

Thank you for your hard work and the beautiful bow.  I feel a bit unworthy to be honest.  I will get a full draw picture up in a bit once I find a teenager with a phone.
