I've made a little progress on my trade. Hit a few road blocks on the way, but it's tillered out to 20". I'll try to get more done this weekend and get some pics if possible. Work's already starting to get busier

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Walt the body is kingwood, sole is Lignum Vitae and sides are Osage.  I gave my last one away for the auction at MOJAM years ago and decided I really needed another one for the build I am doing.

Very nice Kenny, that's a great combo!

Sorry in advanced to my victim! I don't make many longbows and there's a reason for that. They are either dogs or they feel like your drawing a board. Might be starting over anyway if I can't get the poundage down.

Thanks guys!

Travis I'm sure whoever gets a bow from ya won't mind a recurve!!  Your work is immaculate!

My trade is .17 # over requested weight...
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Purdy nice, Kenndy.

Travis anyone would love to have one of your beautiful bows...

Roy from Pa

Getting close here.

Got the stain on her today.

Start with the Tung oil tomorrow, 1 coat a day for about 4 to 5 coats, has to dry 24 hours between coats.

Nice bows guys. I didn't get anything done today. I'm on a two week course of medication that's making me feel crappy.
I have another set of core lams that need tapering and bamboo to plane and sand before I can glue up another bow.

" Vegetarian" another word for bad hunter.

LOL Mike, better luck next year...

Mo_coon-catcher

Well after some more shooting my first bow started ticking at the nocks, essentially all of them over the course of the afternoon and picked up some frets between the knots on the upper limb. So onto plan be. A nice clean black locust stave

I feel your pain Kyle. My bow has been just about nothing but trouble. I had some issues with the tips. Top nock ended up splitting off so I had to shorten it. There's a little too much reflex, so it was a bear to get braced.
Once I got it to brace, I was making decent progress until the handle split on me today. Just a flat split across, but now the handle area is too thin. I was going for a bend thru the handle design, but now I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep a patched piece from popping off.

Mad Max

Looking good roy
Bummer Kyle and caleb, BUT, we get to see you guy's build another nice bow
I would rather fail at something above my means, than to succeed at something  beneath my means

Well a Sunday afternoon nap and a glass of whiskey made things go better. Messed with the limbs and shaped the riser. Seems to have smoothed up the draw and I got it down to two pounds over my victims range. Should be able to drop five more pounds fairly easy.

EvilDogBeast

Sorry to hear the sapling didn't work out Kyle, I really liked the knotty look.

Rody, looking good as always.

4 point, I think you sell yourself short.  That bow looks to be as sweet as all your others.

caleb0100

Travis, that bow looks awesome! I really like that riser
