I'm never the guy with the yard sell treasure find. But I bought a box of what the lady said was "bow junk". Couple packs of unused Zwickey Delta 4 blades, several loose Deltas. Two True Angle hones one for 3 one for 4 blades, tru angle leather strop for 4 blade. Two dozen Bear Razors most never mounted but all un sharpened or used and a pack of the bleeders . Bunch of the rubber 4 blade arrow covers and various old broadheads Bodkin mangus [attachment=1,msg2935813][attachment=1,msg2935813] and some parts for a blitzenburger fletcher bags of  nocks, inserts bow stringers etc. . She was firm on the 10$ so I gave in.
Anyway the point of the post. Does anyone know when the Deltas went from Blue to green? Specifically the light blue ones? I've read the Zwickeys were originally black but can't find info on the blue to green.

Tom

Believe you've hit the yard sale lottery-great find. I started to use zwickey's in the 80's and they were blue then.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

If my old brain remembers right. In the 60s they were green, I think in the 70s they were blue for a short time and went back to green.

Hud

Great find, someone's junk turned into a treasure.

They were green before they went to blue. I actually asked Zwickey why he did that. He said, "I got a really good buy on a bunch of blue paint." Ha!

If I remember right (at 71) they went to blue for 2 maybe 3 years and then back to green because the hunters didn't like the blue color.

As mentioned, you hit the yard sale jackpot at $10.00.

I did a tape recorded interview with Jack Zwickey at his home many years ago. Back then, his entire manufacturing process took place right in his big house. I lost the tapes. Seems like I wrote an article about that interview several years later but I can't remember where it was printed. Jack's sister lived up the road from me back then. I saw him several times while he was in the Bitterroot.

I'd listen to Gene. Jack told me the same thing about the
blue paint.

Thanks for the info. I've seen them green and the dark blue first time with the light blue.

Duncan

Great find! I've got a half dozen blue Eskimos.

Yes, .. what Gene said.

I have a few blues left for sure.... Lots of memories back in the 80s with them O'l Blues.

All the ones I have are the 4 blade. Anyone know if any two blade were painted blue.

Ceb

Yes, 2 blades was also painted in blue, I still have a few around I purchased many years ago.
