The veneers were .035 but I ran em thru the sander to get fresh glue surface and now they are .025

Lonnie, I think I had a traditional pencil in that pic too... :saywhat:

Have the core lams made , now to scarf joint them and make long ones outta short ones...

This shows a finished lam and one bout half done. They should both be ground to a feathered end just like a riser fade when done.

[attachment=1]

Now to glue them together I have an aluminum straitedge 1/4 x1.5 x72 that I lay plastic under glue area and then clamp first lam down on the straitedge. Then give a good coat of ca to that lam and press the other lam down where it goes. Look at second lam to be sure it has a good coat of glue also .

Now lay it in place , flip the plastic over it , feel the joint and get it as flush as possible. Lay a block on top for even pressure and clamp, I use a scrap of plywood. You have about 15 seconds to do this so don't fool around and have all items ready to go.

I let it set for at least a few minutes to be sure it's done bonding , could prob do less but ...

Roy from Pa

Well that just cost me $20.00:)

They have one that has the teeth pointed in one direction for cutting on the pull stroke, which is better straight teeth or angled teeth?

kennym

Heck I made one I knapped outta chert but the kerf was a little too wide to suit me...

I'm partial to pull saws, Japanese style. Better control on the pull stroke, cleaner cut, smaller kerf.

I certainly would not buy the first one you posted Roy, one botched pronunciation and you will be in dutch with the wife.

kennym

Mine is a pull saw also , I get along good with it.

What are those two dangly things on your handle Roy?

Roy from Pa

Cherries, Flem...

Does it splinter your wood, Kenny?

Roy from Pa

Meant the teeth are at an angle compared to the first one the teeth were straight. Both have the angled handle.

Buemaker

I use this Japanese one, cut on the pull stroke. Roy, how many pulls depend on age.
Kenny, I'm gonna copy your straight edge, good idea.

Yes, as the teeth recede, the pull count goes up.  :)
